Not since he stopped playing the game has Mayo produced a player fit to lace his boots. A scoring sorcerer. Mortimer maybe the highest scorer in the history of MAYO ,but Corcorans goals and points haul from OPEN PLAY mark him out as a FAR SUPERIOR and far BRAVER FOOTBALLER. Joe is also revered, admired, and liked through the length and breath of Ireland without any need for self promotion or contributions to social media. .R.I.P. saw him play numerous times , a great footballer and entrained , liked to beat his man on the right side and then turn and beat him again on the left side, they don't produce his likes anymore. But even back then Mayo did funny things , when he was not picked on a team to go to USA and as a result didn't play for Mayo for a few years , only for that gap The Mort would not have scored more than him culmore (None) - Posts: 1398 - 02/11/2017 17:55:15 2059833 Link 1 |
Don't remember the year, Against Galway, Joe ran from sideline to sideline. The Galway back with instructions to stick with him followed him back and forth in the rain. We cheered each side to side. The Galway back then stopped thinking he's making a fool of me. Ball came back up and Joe scored. That was entertaining the crowd. Didn't mind the blue legs from fading denims. There was a story to tell next day. Rosmuc (Mayo) - Posts: 1 - 04/12/2017 23:54:24 2064440 Link 0 |
