Good article there on the main page about a Meath footballer being on Ireland's rugby league squad. Says he took up rugby in 2010............ he must have been inspired by Joe Sheridan's exploits that year.

His club would be a neighbour of Throw Sherdian's GAA club. His club is an amalgamation of two clubs that came together ten years and one of them clubs Shane Hogan played with it before he turned his attention to rugby.

Yeah it was original, seeing as nobody else made a link between that article and Sheridan. No I wasn't up all night since that article only got published today. And I started the thread about two minutes after reading the article. Happy to clear up your questions though.

Rugby is growing at a rapid rate in Meath. Is it to blame for the current malaise meath football finds itself in?

Odd that some Meath posters are still sore about 2010 and the Louth posters in general have moved on. A guilty conscience is a terrible thing :)

slightly off topic but does anyone else find league far more enjoyable to watch than Union?

Rugby League is very one dimensional.
Run, tackle x5, kick. Repeat.

Definitely not, as the poster above says, too one dimensional.

I do enjoy league more than union but I know I'd be in the minority. I enjoy union too, but only Internationals really. Wouldn't watch too much Super League though, mostly NRL

Ah Breffni don't mention the war. I'm still in therapy from it.
