Biggy never kicked 3,4 or 5 points against any top team in his inter county career, what makes ye think next year will be any different.

I'm sorry royaldunne I don't like disagreeing with you as I love your optimism of Meath football, but Andy's gamble of making biggy captain backfired last year, I be surprised if he makes the same mistake again

Really? Kildare 2012 , Dublin 2016 . Just a few off top of my head. Btw name one player on current panel who has kicked 3/4 points from play v big teams?

How exactly did it backfire? Not having a pop. But who else would have worked out differently? Honest question again just curious , captain these is no more than a link between management and players.

Re. Biggy--its a 20 man game these days. Use him from the bench but would not start him. bert09 (Meath) - Posts: 1788 - 02/11/2017 21:49:48 2059893 Link 1 |
In our biggest game of the year against Kildare lenihan and o coilean both scored three plus, our most talented footballer barely touched the ball

My point earlier on though, was that you cannot have a half forward line of Wallace,Biggy and O'Sullivan

Agreed - but to be honest I dont think you can have a half forward line with Wallace in it at all, either of them. You should be able to find a way to start Reilly and O'Sullivan, but I don't think either Wallace is good enough to be starting.

Possibly, but if I was to play Cillian there it would be wider, always played his best football there. Who are the options for number 11 though?

Leno scored 5 that day, 2 were frees.

If that's true it be interesting to see who our next keeper will be, paddy made mistakes but I genuinely taught his kick outs were improving, will be a loss I think even if he didn't start he would of been an experienced player to have on the panel

Has to be one of Jack Hannigan fom Don/Ash or Robbie Burlingham from Simonstown who were involved last year. Next men up behind that i believe would be Jordan Browne (Colmcilles) and Johnny Lynch (Moynalty) No way can we start Joe in a championship game in goals. brian (Meath) - Posts: 1954 - 03/11/2017 10:42:37 2060010 Link 0 |
you have to make huge sacrifices in relation to your personal life to be part of a county panel and he's probably been the best part of 10 years giving all to the county set up.(also if you were him and saw/heard some of the abuse that was directed at him, would you keep putting yourself in the firing line) I wish him well in the future and hopefully it will give a chance for a young keeper to be bought in to work along side joe(if that is the road they are taking). Some people will have to look for a new scapegoat!!! God if graham reilly left aswell, who would they have to blame!!!

Wouldn't be too bothered and Por quitting. Too error prone in pressure situations and also can't be trusted not to lose the head and get sent off. A new goalkeeper was needed imo to try and progress to the next level and now with him gone the issue will be forced. Fair play to him for his effort and commitment over a number of years u can't fault that but I don't see it as a major loss. Blackspot09 (Meath) - Posts: 865 - 03/11/2017 11:19:01 2060020 Link 1 |
