Panel announced in the Chronicle.
Eamon Wallace, Brian Power, Joey Wallace, Conor McGill, Bryan McMahon, Cian O'Brien (Ratoath)
Brian Conlon, Mark McCabe, Podge McKeever, Sean Tobin (Simonstown)
David Gallagher, Shane McEntee, Seamus Lavin, Donal Lenihan (Dunboyne)
Andy Colgan, Sean Curran, Bryan Menton (Ashbounre)
Paddy Kennelly, Conor Dempsey, Luke Martyn (Dunderry)
Robert Garry, Caolach Halligan, Donal Keoghan (Rathkenny)
Shane Glynn, Dan O'Neill, Thomas O'Reilly (Tones)
Biggie, Ben Brennan (Cillies)
Dave Toner, James McEntee (Curragha)
Alan Douglas, Luke Moran (Trim)
Harry Rooney, Eoghan Greene (Skryne)
Mickey Burke (Longwood)
Liam Ferguson (Kells)
Barry Dardis (Summerhill)
Adam Flanagan (Clonard)
Daragh Griffin (Athboy)
Adam McDermott (Dunshauglin)
Cillian O'Sullivan (Moynalvey).

Wondering because McDermott is on the senior panel does that make him ineligible for the 20's or does he have to play league. Unfamiliar with a few lads Griffin, Ferguson, Moran, Glynn, Garry, Dempsey, Martyn, Colgan. I know Colgan is a keeper, where do the rest of them play ?
Also no Daire Rowe or David McLouglin is both interesting and disappointing

Big squad of players, but lets see where things go over the course of the O'Byrne cup and league. I'm happy to see that many lads involved and I'm sure some U20's will come in if performing well.

Few surprise omissions for me. Thought Kane and McGrath from Simonstown would've been in with a shot. No Daire Rowe and James Conlan also sticks out to me but would they be in the U20's panel?? Had heard Robin Clarke might be worth a try at corner back but maybe hasn't been off the standard or is he still U20? David McLoughlin still not getting a chance seems odd as he's been one of Moynalveys best players over last 2/3 years. Sean Curran could be a very worthy return and welcome addition to the panel.

Looking at midfield you'd expect a combination of Menton, Rooney, Flanagan and Dan O'Neill potentially, Kennelly and Sean Tobin could also do a job.

Given Barry Dardis play for Summerhill over the summer could he be the no 11 we've been looking for for years.

Puts a lot of the rumours to bed now re who's involved and who's not.

Lets all get behind this management and panel of players and see how they progress over the next couple of months

Think a lot of players declined the invitation to join the Panel for one reason or another, maybe those 2 among that list

Aww would you look at that, after all the scare mongering etc... 3 actual keepers on the panel, 1 very experienced at inter county level, 1 very solid keeper and 1 very young with huge potential. a bad day for all the doomsday merchants...

From those with a better working knowledge of the players available, what are the positives and negatives about that selection?

Correct. Shafted by management last year to accommodate others. Played his best football for us at wing back in 2012 I think. Went travelling in 2013 but came back for 2014. Never reached the heights of 2012 again unfortunately but was played out of position like you said. The lad must've been so frustrated. Hope he can enjoy a year of club football now. Best wishes to him. Massive loss

Ha would You Give over..Gallagher is only there because the other 2 lads left..A 38 year old that in his prime was poor..And the other pair no one even knows who they are...1 solid goalkeeper hasnt even played 1 game at senior county level..Same as the Huge Potential guy..Plenty of other young goalies with potential in the county never made it..
Lets call a spade a spade there only there because the 4 goalies of last year dropped off the panel

First of all it's great to see Andy searching far and wide, there is 13 lads there who are getting their first shot at Meath senior football which is great to see. My biggest concerns would be some of the players there didn't stand out in club football over the past year. McKeever, McCabe, Dardis and Glynn were the 4 standout players in the championship so i'm happy to see all 4 in the set up.
We know what Keoghan, Reilly, O Sullivan, Burke, Menton, Lenihan and McGill can do so I think it would be a waste of time playing them in the OBC i'd save them for the league. I've question marks over the 2 Wallaces and Sean Tobin just from seen so little progress over the last couple of years.
For the first round of the O Byrne Cup this is the team I would be going with:

1.) Andy Colgan
2.) Robert Garry
3.) Seamus Lavin
4.) Shane Glynn
5.) Liam Ferguson
6.) Brian Conlon
7.) David Toner
8.) Adam Flanagan
9.) Harry Rooney
10.) Alan Douglas
11.) Barry Dardis
12.) Mark McCabe
13.) Bryan McMahon
14.) Thomas O'Reilly
15.) Podge McKeever

Have to say when I read the team hairs stood up on back of neck. For no other reason than I cannot wait for the obc to begin. Andy has really cast the net wide and far. And while those who cannot commit to the hectic regime that is now in place within Meath football will be missed, we must concentrate on those who can commit. Thanks to all 41 and indeed those who didn't make the cut this time, maybe next year.
Hon the royal. And best wishes to all players and management. Roll on the 3 of January.

I'm no doom merchant but I think you're going overboard a bit there. "1 very solid keeper" could apply to just about any first team keeper in the county. And "very young with huge potential" is not particularly comforting.

As for Gallagher, when a man who has retired twice from the team is brought back again it's depressing. "Experienced" is just scraping the barrel for positives about a 38 year old player. He has amassed 13 Meath championship appearances.

Andy Mc chose Andy Colgan ahead of Burlingham and Hannigan at U21. He is a very good keeper who has returned from almost a year in Australia. He is looking fitter than he has been for a long time. David Gallagher my own clubman will be used as support for other 2 lads. Looking forward to seeing how McKeever gets on, he was unlucky when he got injured in early days this year.

Yeah Whatever If paddy was there He would be no1..These 3 are 3rd 4th and 5th choices really...Kinda the same throughout the squad! Im no dooms day merchant but a realist..This is quite a weak squad in my opinion but time will tell I suppose..Big Year For Andy to produce the goods..
