In fairness to Offaly, they supported Tier 2 counties being included in preliminary quarter-finals. This proposal received more than 75% support at congress.

Tier 2 wasn't a provincial draw.

I don't know why you think Westmeath would have done any better against Dublin than Laois, who lost to them by 16 points. There is a huge gulf between most tier 1 teams and the tier 2 sides, and the same gulf in difference as you go down through the other tiers as well. There will be occasional close games but it will take many many years to close the gap.

While they're a good team, I think people are exaggerating how good Westmeath are. They came 4th in their league group, then played 5 championship games this year and lost 4 of them with the other being a 2 point win at home vs. Meath.

Both of you guys are right Westmeath Dissapointed in 2016.In 2015 we beat Offaly by 14 points and gave Limerick a good fright in Mullingar with the 21s beating Kilkenny. Its very hard for a small young squad to repeat that two years in a row.Westmeaths big challenge is to be consistent and you can say the same foe Laois.
