They failed to beat a hurling county.

Cavan have been crowing about their underage success for years now, haven't delivered on any of it, and some are happy to salvage a last minute draw against one of the weaker teams in the division.

We will be in a relegation battle, in fact we may well suffer successive relegations.

The future is blue, oh how prophetic that phrase was!"
Not the first time we failed to bear a hurling County, big dome of the previous managers fans don't like hearing it. It's just a reflection of where Cavan Football is but some of the die hards refuse to believe it. Nevertheless, encouraging come back for the draw with all those new comers."]If they were a Hurling County they would just be playing Hurling. They are a dual County. As if Cavan have some devine right to beat Clare and Tip because they are good at Hurling."]They are predominantly a hurling county. Always have been.

Cavan are almost entirely a football one.

It's clear that we should be beating counties we have patent advantages over."]Not really. They are bigger Counties then Cavan, so can compete at a decent level in football. Tipperary have won plenty under age in Munster. Kilmurray reached the All Ireland Club final in 2010. A Cavan team has never even won Ulster.

He won Ulster u21 title .. got you's to Div 1.. you's are an average team at best! Where are you getting the impression you's are a top team??? Terry done a great job end of. Cavan don't have the players to play his attacking fancy football you are romancing over

Good comeback. Well done to all concerned. Valuable away point.

Probably a good point considering 13 lads made league debut. Though killian was brilliant, especially in 1st half. Holla really good and full back line did well. Same issue as always though, very little threat in forwards until Mackey came on. Need 2 points on Saturday against Louth as games will be getting harder each week after that.

Well done to the panel for their efforts yesterday. One point nearer the 7 needed to stay in the Division. A win against Louth would be a major help next Saturday. Given the backdrop going into the game it was a positive. Paddy Power were offering 4/11 about Clare during the week.

They were 4/5 all week and then went 4/7 Friday. They may have gone 4/11but were not near it during the week.

The odds obviously changed when the team was known, a bit like the last round of the McKenna Cup.

Delighted to say I put a tonne on the draw.good start to the year (for my bank balance anyway). Not convinced by the management so far.think he just throws darts at the list of players in the squad and that's how he decides his starting lineup. Eyeball

I like to start the year with a few big bets.after that I keep it small just for bit of interest .ive also put a bet on the team I feel will win the county championship and it's not the reigning champions although they were super impressive last year.heard there's bit of trouble in the camp.hard to keep such a talented squad happy. Good point with a young team up against a very physical Clare team in tough playing conditions. Really struggled in midfield first half to get meaningful possession and what we did get we lacked composure at times. Our shot and pass selection was very bad when opportunities arose- some will say we were lucky to be still in it at half time but we gifted them a goal and spurned 3 or 4 decent attacks. A bit of composure and we would have been well in it.
Second half was much improved in no small part to Mackey. He's a class act. Of course we rode our luck but it took guts to come back from 7 points down when all seemed to be going against us. You could include the ref in that too!! The other subs helped us as well and we were able to get our hands on the ball in the middle more through hard work and winning dirty ball. I thought we were well on top last 10 mins and really should have punished them. Again we lacked composure when in the driving seat and let them back into it. Nearly lost it in the end but great free to level it and get a deserved point.
There's plenty to improve on from that game but there's positives too. A lot of the young lads did well and the subs that came on improved us. It's only their first game together so hopefully after a few games we will see an improvement. Midfield is still a problem area and our forward line looked weak at times but like I said some of the delivery at times was very poor. Hopefully match practice, returning players and some experienced gained by the new recruits will stand to us in the next matches.

Lad, cavan lorded primary possession from kick outs in midfield in first half, Clarke dominated Brennan. Dont know what you are on about. The problem was no final product and ball kept coming back from our forwards who couldn't make any inroads. Most primary possession won by Clare was due to bad kick outs. The only purple patch Clare had in midfield was the first 10 minutes of 2nd half.

I didn't think we lorded possession at all. Thought we got caught in possession and turned over too often. Clare looked more physical.

I did travel to Ennis yesterday to watch the game. We got away with a point from that game. Any point away from home will be hard earned. You didn't know what to expect from the Cavan team. Some crazy mistakes were made when we were in possession. Handed back to Clare and got punished. We currently are missing players in vital positions on the field of play.

Can anyone on here name me 15 players from the Senior Div. 1 Clubs in the county that would be fit to wear the county jersey? What is wrong within the county?

It's no disgrace to the current team of lads!!!!

I heard the same old story from Cavan followers at the game yesterday. Very worrying times ahead for our Senior County Team....

We'll take the draw lads. I couldn't make it in the end but listened to it and I didn't get the impression that it was anything but a snatch and grab from our lads. Credit where it is due. It seems Mackey had a very positive impact and I guess he was our second highest scorer (with only 2 points from play) after Caomhin and he only came on in the second half! That is worrying.

We need to take the points against Louth next. Division 2 is one where teams will take points off each other and I expect that it will take at least 5 points to secure Div.2 status next year - maybe even 6.

Does anybody know if the Gales lads are back for the next round or what their involvement levels are at this point?

Enlighten us with your bet for the senior championship...I can tell you now, if you put your money on any team aside from the current champions, you'll lose your money.
As for the camp, there's nothing but harmony in the camp - there was a full turn out for training on Christmas Day...how many clubs did that?

What Gaels lads are we talking about?
Do you know who has been asked?
Do you know who have declined?

I presume Niall Murray is still on panel.

Well one of the players of the year from last year wasnt asked in at all. Sure Cavan have the best players available according to Mattie and D Mc Veety...... This is not the case however.

I was told that there are 3 gaels lads on the panel and now training. That one guy hasn't come back and might come back later in the year (I bet you can guess who that is!!).
Personally, I would cut the cord now to anyone who is flaffing about and hasnt committed. No one is more important than the collective.
