Has gaelic football become too cynical?

The game was filthy AND cynical back in my day. There was a lot more 50/50 situations and the 3rd man tackle was thriving.

Easy saying it when youve won it.
Cynical play was invented in the North , but down south theyve just taken it to another level due to superior physicality."
Atlantic Storms is it? Makes the western fellas teak tough, hardy and grrrrrr?

I'm not just thinking of Dublin this year but any team defending a lead."
Thought you stole my idea there for a min until I checked the other thread (Kimmage rant) brilliant minds think alike lol.

Down by two with a couple of minutes left, ball in their own half and trying to instigate or simulate an offence to get the ref to give a 14 yard free. Imagine the pressure on the ref. A non-starter of an idea."
I agree it would be open to abuse but its certainly worth a try.It would mean that a competent ref would be essential.

This is all cause a few Dublin players pulled down Mayo players right? What's the big problem the ref stop the play then black carded Kilkenny so we had 13 players on the field and play resumed with Clarke kicking the ball out, what's the actual problem here I don't get it the ref allowed another 3 minutes of added on time it was just unlucky for Mayo that Clarke kicked the ball out of play and Mayo couldn't get it back. I don't see what the big issue is with what happened? It was dealt with and the game resumed.

I wanted Dublin to win so I don't really care about mayo. The issue is that every team now do it when they are winning. It is awful as a neutral, even worse as an opposition supporter but worst of all is the opposition players.

Its not nice and yet we see it in the majority of games. Forget about Dublin. Its something that needs to be stopped somehow. I don't have any proper ideas but the black card isn't the answer. If the repercussions we more serious then I don't see it happening, atleast not to the same extent.

I agree with certain situations but with the Dublin one the ball was not in play so I don't see the big deal, the ref took action and the game went on. Clarke messing up the kick out had nothing to do with what happened just before that

Just to clear something up , not every Dublin player pulled down his opponent after Dean Rocks free as the link above shows, only Kilkenny who was rightly black carded did and play resumed with Dublin down to 13 players. Just to clear that up cause I keep hearing every Dublin player systematically pulled down their direct opponent after his free which is complete bs.

Certainly not that latest one "man" Kerry side... and I say man...

It's like a watching a game in the park where another team is definitely playing a banger..

Some 18 year old against an U14 team and his mere physical presence is enjoy to destroy their defence
