Eoin Murphy

(Oldest Posts First)

Just looking at the 3 nominations for hurling all star goalkeeper and it's dumbfounding how Callanan is nominated ahead of eoin Murphy. Do those who select the all star nominations just pick all Ireland finalists and the best semi finalists now or do they actually look at performances from the beginning of the league until September? Just for anyone who has forgotten just take a look at the league quarter final highlights on YouTube between Wexford and Kilkenny.

100% spot on. It hurt me for years to say anything good about KK but in fairness Eoin Murphy's performances added up to be the greatest performances in a year for an goalkeeper. I'd have no hesitation of giving him the All Star either and I don't care how early KK were knocked out

Murphy is a fantastic player and had a good year. But didn't make crucial saves in a Leinster final (penalty) or in the second half of an All Ireland semi final. Callanan did.

Saying that, I'd have O'Keefe as All Star keeper this year.

My point in exactly, they just look at the semi and finals now instead of putting an effort into looking back over all games. Murphy was top class in every game he played. The saves he made were as important at the time as any saves made in all Ireland semi finals or finals. Just because callanan may have made a save in the all Ireland semi final doesn't mean he was any better than a goalkeeper who made loads of top class saves during the league and early championship

Yes Waterford biased. O'Keeffe the best keeper by far the last number of years but will not get it this year either. It used to be judged by saves and shots blocked and he is the best stopper in the game. Now there are all these puck out strategies that worked in one game for the Corkman. Waterford ripped it a part in the semi-final. Good lick yo who ever gets it.

Out of the 3 nominees O'Keefe will definitely get it.
