Firstly, you didn't give an opinion; you stated something as fact: ...consider the fact also there is a lot more work and running involved in modern day football than their would be soccer ... It's why I queried it. Secondly, the first link you provide from 2014 shows Premier League footballers to far fitter then GAA footballers. The second link includes running stats for Elite Soccer (not the Premier League) which is American. The running stats from 2014 for Premier League players easily beats the GAA footballers stats from 2017. Cockney_Cat (UK) - Posts: 2447 - 21/09/2017 20:57:30 2049165 Link 0 |

Guys it happens to all great teams, Kerry in 86, Tyrone should of beaten kerry that day, but the wise old heads of Spillane OSe and Sheehy dug them out that day, by using their experience, The were 30, 30 and 32 that day, and the following year against cork the legs were gone, a great team like Dublin will be in trouble next year unless those over 30 get moved on from the squad. royce (UK) - Posts: 30 - 21/09/2017 21:33:04 2049184 Link 0 |

Age of course is something that can't be ignored , neither is fitness and form , there are legendary coaches of which I believe Gavin is one and I doubt it's escaped his attention, this year team holiday was three weeks later than normal and afterwards lads were given a fair few weeks off before coming back and hitting it hard from may onwards , so while I'd have concerns I wouldn't be writing anyone off just yet based on birthcerts not with Jim at the helm

Sure 3 out of 4 POTY nominees are over 33 so plenty of football left in most of those lads

Guys, the aforementioned players are class players but Father Time waits for no man, the speed from your legs goes as the years go by, 13 players getting passed their best will be a massive blow to the dubs. royce (UK) - Posts: 30 - 22/09/2017 12:04:00 2049297 Link 0 |
I can't believe the media haven't picked up that the Dubs have peaked? royce (UK) - Posts: 30 - 23/09/2017 11:05:47 2049540 Link 0 |
