And they very same folk were moaning when Tipp and the Rossies ran through us in recent yrs. Of course it is always not pretty to watch. Wake up and smell the coffee. Most if not all teams don't play 15 on 15. And for the record the last decent WC final was '86 with soccer in general way worse as a spectacle than gaelic football. Worse still most of those guys are a bunch of overpaid prima donnas.

The weekend matches done nothing to promote our game, poor attendances, poor matches, lacked any intensity, if they were knockout matches then Kerry, Kildare, Donegal and Roscommon would be gone, how is 2 more games where there is a possibility of Roscommon getting hammered going to help that team, we only played round 1 but as of now the super 8s area load of bull and should be scrapped, we'll wait and see how the other 2 rounds play out, they would drastically want to improve. Round 1 should have been home games for the 4 provincial champions, round 2 home advantage for the qualifiers, round 3 in a neutral venue maybe Croke Park, maybe not, Galway v Kerry could have been in Limerick, Roscommon v Tyrone could be in Tullamore, Donegal v Dublin in Clones or Dr Hyde Park Roscommon, Castlebar or Salthill, Kildare v Monaghan in Navan, what the GAA done was to bring the 8 teams to a half full Croker, cost more money to open Croke Park than what they made on tickets and shops riverboys (Mayo) - Posts: 1389 - 17/07/2018 08:22:36 2122992 Link 0 |

As is the Tyrone v Dublin game in Omagh. Even with the 2 sell out games for this weekend we are still likely that the phase 1 games in Croke (perceived to be poorly attended) will have greater attendances than this weekends 4 games. I think we have to give the Super 8's a chance before rushing to judgement. I can see the logic as to why the GAA wanted to have a big weekend to open the Super 8's on the first weekend with two double headers at Croke Park but that has failed. Croke Park is just far too big for these matches. I think we will see a big improvement in the games and more especially the atmosphere in the provincial grounds this weekend. Exactly. Should be a great atmosphere in Newbridge on Sunday. Croke Park was a damp squib, in every sense on Sunday. Got my tickets yesterday so I'm happy out.

If that was to be the case then all home games would have to be done away with and I can't see that happening. Leave the home games as they are and move the Croke Park games around the country where a decent crowd actually makes an impact rather than the same crowd rattling around Croker.
