Replying To Laois76:  "Well if those LIthuanian chaps want to play for Dublin there are a few reasons. One you're not promoting your product properly. If integrated with friends at club level children generally follow they're peers.

Apart from that you have a large population anyway.

In response to Richie, for some reason mods wouldn't let me post this, i know Trevor Giles well from college days. He would not want to win a Leinster championship against a Dublin B team, North side etc.

I didn't bring in 2010 out of malice but i feel a victory over a Dublin region would not satisfy. Satisfy like the magnificient Leinster's won by Meath in 1996, 1999 and 2001. As Ciaran Fitzgerald would say 'Where's your effing pride?!'. You have a bigger population than Mayo of core Meath support to build a team from.

Yes to Richie, i know about your U17s and minors, i've seen them play Laois. Keep up that good work and concentrate on progression rather than excuses.

What are the odds the 2 Lithuanians will play for Dublin seniors?! For every child you mention, a son or daughter of Dublin parents, who wants to play for Dublin there's a child who's parents from Dublin are taking him down to the local U8s and he'll play with his friends on a Meath club. Forget the jersies, kids love wearing any sporting jersey from any code. It's the club and friends that will lead them to Meath football. That's the way the gaa always has been. Ross Munnelly, Laois, people are from Mayo etc.

Kilkenny people have moved to Dublin for generations and their offspring hurled in the capital. Did that effect Kilkenny producing winning team generation after generation? Did the worry that Shiner Brennan's kids were growing up in Dublin or Eamonn Morrissey? They worked with what they had. Meath have more than enough players and clubs. At the end of the day we're looking at 30 men...30 men to produce."
Thats the spirit...i love you're attitude on how you see things Laois76.

Dublin parents don't want their little Johnny playing for Meath..they would rather see little Dublin Johnny join the Taliban than play for Meath :)

Anyway back to the 2 LIthuanian chaps born and meath with Dublin accents ...no you're wrong nothing to do with not promoting your product properly !

But look i love a auld game of guess :)

You will need to speak up louder Laois76 next time ...because i just can't here you down their in division 4 !

The poor Meath attitude is so funny.

Dublin parents would let their kids play for any other county bar Meath. That's why we can't compete at a level our population (indigenous) should allow us. I can actually see how a few of ye are so insufferable i wouldn't want my kids playing with ye. With ye're long faces!!

So we should just let every player choose what county they wnat to play for.

Work out great for Dublin I'm sure.

You play for a club in a county then you have to repesent that county, you want to pay for another county then you have to move house and live there and play for a club there.

We were in division 2 with yourselves 18 months ago and have been in division 1 as recently as 2012. Ye can't get out of division 2. And as regards hurling we play in the Leinster championship, not the Christy Ring. So as a gaa county with half your population we're doing alright.

Look if you involved all your little Johnnies in the community, brought them to fun days (if such a thing is possible for you) with local clubs etc you'd catch a lot of the newbies in your county. That's what's happening in every other county. It's not as if present day Dublin born parents see Meath as a rival anymore.

I wouldn't laugh at Laois in division 4. We were in division 2 just 18 mts ago, drawing with Meath. If you want to go down that route our hurlers play in division 1 B along with the all-ireland champions Galway. We're not in the Christy Ring Cup.

Why does no other county bar Meath complain about Dublin born people's kids not wanting to play with them? Never heard it from Kildare or Wicklow. It's not as if there's a rivalry there anymore..

The free wasn't awarded when the 2 collided but rather when keegan stupidly fouled. As regards the penalty incident i'd like a ref to clear this one up. The 1st foul was outside and advantage was being played. However he was fouled again so which is it; the 1st or the 2nd foul ? Any ref care to call it ?"

This has been my bugbear since the advantage rule came in. I was shot down on here for claiming that refs don't use the advantage rule properly and I stand by that. I mean I have seen all the top refs do the same. A foul is committed, they put their hand up for advantage, another foul is committed and they bring the ball back for the original offence. This is wrong . If you are playing advantage then the ball is in play and any further foul should be punished without regard to the original offence. I seen a case before (Dublin player v Monaghan was fouled outside the box, advantage played, was fouled again inside the penalty area, ref gives a free for original foul). it's stupid and it's wrong and we need the referees assessor or Pat McEnaney or someone to clarify what is being taught to the referees because it seems that they are not applying the advantage rule correctly.
They are treating a subsequent foul the same way as a wide i.e. bringing it back for the original free.

Not really laughing at Laois..its just banter to me ! To me these forums are just a bit of banter ..no Meath problems are going to sorted out on here, maybe made worse if you had you're way :)

Look i am all on for diversity among the Meath population ...and you are right its not Dublin kids living in Meath that are Meaths problem when it comes to why Meath are bad !

80% of the Dublin kids living in Meath don't even know what gaa sports are so its definitely not there fault ! The same for Meath kids they are not interested in gaa sports anymore they just see it as a time consuming that could be better of spent studying the books!

I am also a believer in the 30 best players in Meath should be able to compete at the highest level in the championship,if the hard work is done by each player there is no reason why Meath should not be competing ..its not rocket science !

Anyways back to Banter

Still nobody guessed correctly why the two lithuanians want to play for Dublin

Laois 76 are you OK in the head man. A kid living in a county is that counties kid. Doesn't matter where the kids parents are from.
So no such thing my friend of a Dublin kid living in Meath. Eg Paul Curran was a Dublin kid of a Meath Dad.
Terry Ferguson was a Meath kid even though he had a Dublin dad.
That is the problem here. Same happens in Kildare too, just look at Niall Quinn son hopping in with the Dubs. It's a joke. Makes a joke of Ciaran Whelan and he talks parochialism.
If Dublin people living in Meath and Kildare don't want to respect parochialism that Whelan talk about, then fine, go home. Don't ruin someone else's county and then no one will split yours.

I never argued that. It's Meath men saying kids there won't play for them.

Go learn how to comprehend what you read.

you play advantage if a second foul happens you give the free in the most advantage position therefor a penalty should of being awarded, diferrent leving of refereeing but should of been a peno
