I was just about to say the same pogue, some differing revisionism on Clarke's season. A few excellent saves against Kerry seem to have blurred the lines a bit. His kickouts up until the replay have been fairly poor even if his shot stopping is excellent. Cluxton's shot stopping looked to be on the wane up until this season but he's been making some superb stops as well as looking very assured under high ball. Agree, but we are only assessing performance this season. Clarke has been the busier and has performed exceptionally. His kickouts have also improved immeasurably. To be honest I dont think either will get POTY but I would have Clarke ahead of Cluxton currently for the GK allstar

Yeah didn't Derry have one last free to win that game? If it had gone over, the keeper's mistake would have been the talking point.

Odds reflect the money going on and while the Dubs have had their smoothest ever passage to the final, half the team being in the top 10 is a bit of a distortion. Players like Colm Cavanagh should still be in the running, but the season gets boiled down to a few games and results more than performances. If Dublin win Sam again there's a strong chance one of the Mayo lads listed will get it, or possibly Clarke, Higgins or even Tom Parsons, but in all honesty none of them will want another gesture of heroic failure. As most posters say, it all depends on the final. Strange things can often happen like 2 strong candidates from one county emerging (Seamie Callanan and Paudie Maher for Tipp hurlers last year) splitting their vote somewhat. About time someone said it. More people in Dublin = more punters = more money laid on their favourite players. Cluxton breaking the appearance record will have been seen by many as another thing in his favour, Gavin bigging up his save in the Leinster final (when getting out of the way of Flynns shot would've been harder!), etc. . McCarthy as mentioned before does a lot of unnoticed work. Clarkes kick outs were rubbish first day against Kerry. Haven't even thought how he played in other games. shot stopping top drawer. Any number of Dubs could get it but lack of challenge probably against them. Andy Moran and Aidan O'Shea excellent for Mayo. Higgins very foolish against Galway so I would rule him out. Colm Boyle excellent last few games but only playing 55 mins on av. If Mayo win it will be Andy Moran unless AOS has a stormer. If Dubs win it could be any of them. What would go against Cavanagh is the game on Sunday. Rightly lauded up to then as the perfect sweeper but against questionable opposition. Dublin eased through the defence. So no stand out performance in an SzF or final makes it impossible to be considered poty. May be lucky to get an all star as the finalists will offer more options for consideration.
