Replying To if_in_doubt:  "I bet you that if the Dublin team were the EXACT same team, players, management, but were from Kildare, and had Kildare accents, no one would have a bad word to say about them.

C'est la vie

Unless they were from around Leixlip, then they'd still be Dubs :)"
Isn't Lexlip on the border, half in Kildare half in Dublin over the river

Replying To heartbroken:  "I have a fear that Dublin will believe all the hype. Tyrone did not turn up in SF. Last year's final mayo gave away 2 soft goals and have not got the rub of the green . If Dublin are not at 100% then Mayo will catch them.
I am going for a Mayo win"
Dublin were far from 100% last year abd they still weren't caught. I can see them running away with this one as well.

No one can doubt the perseverance, determination and talent of this Mayo side

But even with younger legs they still haven't been good enough

They'll need it to lash rain and hope Dublin have a sloppy performance and maybe even be forced into uncomfortable tactical switches due to a card or injury

Dubs are fresher than they've been for years and have added a real speed back into their play with Mannion, O'Callaghan, Lowndes, Scully and McCaffrey playing very well and offer a very different option compared to 2016

Dubs were knackered after the Kerry epic semifinal going for back to back titles while having previously won NFL Div 1

Mayo are perfectly capable of winning but they'll need a lot going perfectly. I just don't see it. Our bench this year is unreal and that's the biggest difference, we have far more to many moving parts.

There has definitely been work done in and around not bringing the ball into contact as well. We were caught be that in the first game last year with the blanket and with Tyrone this year i think their has been an emphasis on it. If you look at the Dublin forward line its more imprtant what they do of the ball now as opposed to when they have it. It will be curious to see how Mayo set up, very defensively like last year or open expansive football as of years gone by. They will come out hyped and expend a lot of energy in the first 20 mins or so. First 25 ins or so is crucial. I wouldnt be surprised if we were behind by 1 or two points at this stage.

Like you i think its a tricky task prepping for Dublin, in many ways you have to prep for two or three games as opposed to just one. Im not sure Dublins strongest team ever starts, the team that will start will be the one the Jim thinks can gain a foot hold in the game and build early momentum for 50 mins. Mayo need to be 4-6 ahead of Dublin after 50 mins i think to see it out and be prepared to score in the last 20 mins themselves with regularity, goals will be crucial. The Dublin bench will blitz it and a different team will come on at 50 -65 mins with different skill sets, full of energy with experience to change the dynamic of the game, often Dublin finish with their best team as opposed to starting with it.

The first 50 mins will be crucial if Mayo are 1 or 3 points ahead at this stage, i would be confident enough of a Dublin victory, if Mayo are 5-6 ahead at that stage its a much bigger task. If its pretty tight up to 50 mins we are doing very well. If we get our noses in front up to the 50 mark i think we will see another cagey "game management" contained performance by Dublin just staying those couple of points ahead and trying to just pick Mayo off.

Exactly ,read my posts from last year I kept saying there was too much pace gone from our team , Jim has fixed that and with the road runner back we our back to our best. Can only see a Dublin win unless the ref rides us.

Not disrespecting Mayo I just believe this Dublin team is too good for Mayo to beat.

Dublin were also thought to be far far superior to Donegal in 2014 remember, of course that Donegal team at their best were far superior to Mayo, despite what wee Joe Brolly is spouting now, we had far better forwards than any Mayo team I have seen, not to mind a master technician on the line.
Dublin could be in for a shock if Mayo get of to a good start this time, and Dublin don't like playing catch up, they have the capacity to implode and panic if the pressure is on them, like in 2014 semi final.
The time is dragging until this match, can't wait.
Mayo by 2.

You're wrong there Tír Chonaill, the Dubs are unbeatable. Remember 1992! ;) Mayo are the underdogs and rightfully so!

You can only bring on so many forwards during a game , and its not just the forward line that may need altering during the game for either team.
Durcan, Coen, Loftus, are serious bench options and are no mugs at this level..

You're going on 1 game 3 years ago , we've been behind we've been in front we've been every situation since and we've won so I think will be ok.

Here if Mayo beat us by out playing us I'll be on here after the game to say well done outstanding stuff I didn't think it was possible but again well done Mayo.

I think it will come down to mental strength more so than physical fitness or football skills. If Mayo get their mental strength in shape this year, same as the Galway hurlers did, they will win it.

If Mayo beat ye, ye'll be moaning for a year or so! JG will try to hide it with plámás, he's good at that!

Pretty inaccurate there. Dublin came back against Kerry and Mayo on noted occasions in recent years . Losing once against Donegal but most analysis suggests Dublin learned from that and have improved considerably making repeat scenario very unlikely.

If Mayo beat us they will deserve to, a great team will beat this Dublin team, that's the challenge for Mayo, 70 mins to be immortals or another year of pain.

Its a fantastic challenge, for them and one every sportsman should relish.

Equally Dublin will have their own date with destiny the first team to win three in a row in the modern era of qualifiers and quarterfinals.

I dont think hunger or mental strength will be an issue when you look what both teams can achieve.

These two teams have nothing to prove in that dept, Dublin are unbeaten in the championship in three years, Mayo have played 10 games to get this far and only beaten once. Since 2014 its only this Dublin team and Galway that have beaten them in the championship.

I think Mayo have a great chance for all the aura that surrounds Dublin, many will know that the make up of the team is different this year and has been in transition with a lot of new younger faces, some could well struggle on a big occasion and the cavalry could be called on far to late if Mayo can build up a big score.

This is Mayos best chance in my opinion in all the games they have played against Dublin since 2012, they need to follow what Kerry did in the league final, they need to split the game in to quarters have a game planand tactic for each, they need to be 4-6 points ahead heading into the 55 min mark and they need to score in the last quarter. If Mayo approach the game similarly to how Kerry did in the league final they have a wonderful chance.

Dublin will play like Dublin, they can play any way that Mayo want to set up and may the best win as Colm Cooper said 'the problem when you play against Dublin is that they completely ignore you; it's as though you're not there'."

Its a game of football after all.

I remember seeing a video of press conference in Letterkenny before that 2014 game, National Journalists sniggering when Jim McGuinness said Donegal were going down there to win.

Regarding this years All Ireland final, I think the way to beat Dublin will be to take them the distance, go toe to toe with them for 70+ minutes. Mayo are not defensive sound enough to open up a huge lead and then hope to sit back and defend it, Mayo's strength is their versatility around the pitch and they should use that.

Dublin have too many options but can only use 15 at a time. Mayo by 2

I know what you're saying when I came on here in June 2011 I said "domination was coming" there was a lot of sniggering from hoganstand posters after I repeatedly said this and most of the posters laughing are gone into hiding now.

All the pressure is on Dublin as we watch Mayo being, gently, respectfully, yet undeniably written off.

Mayo for the win!

That's a Game of Thrones type prediction there in "Domination is coming", but good call all the same.
