Galway or Waterford - your preferred winner?

For me this final is a win win situation. Either a 29 or 58 year famine will end. I suppose one way of looking at it is Waterford's famine is exactly twice that of Galway's. More of us will look at the sweeper system versus the more orthodox style of Galway.

Great servants of the game will win an all-ireland medal. Be it Joe Canning, Brick or Kevin Moran. We have wonderful talent on both sides. Joe Canning, a great, Austin Gleeson and Jamie Barron, younger men, potential greats.

The premature passing of the great Tony Keady adds another layer of emotion to the final.

For me if i was to choose right now i'd go with Galway as my preference. Reasoning is very shallow. I'd say the biggest reason is the Galway team of 1985-1990 were idols of mine growing up and there's always been a soft spot for Galway. Again reinforced by Tony's passing.

If Waterford win it will also be marvellous and 'Don't Stop Believing' will be played non stop in the Deise county for a year! Expect gems from John Mullane a co.!

Galway. I always shout for Galway in the hurling and want Liam west of the Shannon. Having said that if Waterford win I'd be delighted for them.

that said justice demands joe canning gets that elusive all ireland medal

either way ill be jealous as hell wondering if i will ever see us win it

Even as a Galway man I'd love to see Waterford win it, but obviously not this year. think Galway have to win it this year, our record in finals is as bad as Mayo if not worse (4 out of 23), and I think yet another final loss would be just too much to bear for both this team and supporters. So I'm with witnof on this one, Galway this year, and then Waterford can win it in 2018 :)

Galway - Have cousins there. They always shout for us in the football when Galway are out (or so they tell me;)

That said I wouldn't begrudge Waterford either if they manage to win it.

Waterford.

Not even close.

They've been by far the most entertaining hurling team to follow as a neutral in the last 15 or 16 years , the Waterford team of the 00's is my favourite team part form the Offaly team of the 90's.

Waterford for me. Longer wait and find it harder to get to finals than Galway so could be their only chance. Galway can win All Irelands in both codes too, this is all Waterford have.

Galway . My late father was from East Galway . He loved The GAA especially hurling . We've always shouted for Galway.

Waterford, they have been waiting longer and Galway would be the more likely loser to come back and win a title if they lose this one.

Either way I'll be happy but I'll go with Waterford cause they've got Austin Gleeson.

To be honest I'd be happy to see either team win and would find it hard to pick. I'd suppose I'd like to see the team that plays best on the day and deserves it most lift the Liam McCarthy.

Next year's All Ireland final Laois v Limerick. Laois out to bridge a 103 year gap. Limerick 45.

Carlsberg don't do hurling finals, but if they did....

Wouldn't it be great to see Mayo and Tyrone in the football..

I know Tyrone's gap is only 9 yrs but the final would be a fresh pairing and Mayo would have no fear.

Don't buy that Waterford are great supporters, we played them 2-3 years ago in Nowlan Park and of 20k attendance, 15k were from Wexford at a cautious guess. Having said that, I do hope they win for the likes of Brick Walsh, Kevin Moran, Maurice Shanahan.
I think there is an All-Ireland in Galway after this year, I am not so sure re Waterford.
