Galway v Waterford Final

In my opinion the big difference between the side in such a close game was the terrible attitude and performance put in by gleeson.

Hearty congratulations to Galway on their win today. They are great champions. They lay down their marker back in the spring when they hammered us in the league final. They answered every question asked of them since that day and always look in control of each and every championship game they played. They are wonderful champions and a credit to our great sport.

Hard luck to Waterford. I have huge respect for Derek McGrath and this group of players. Galway completely out hurled them in the first half and yet they were only one point behind at the break. That speaks volumes about the character of this team. With the exception of the Brick they are a young team. They will have Conor Gleeson and hopefully Devine back next year. I hope they lay down some early markers for the season next year like Galway this year and Tipp last year and push on from here and bring Liam McCarthy down to the South East next year.

This could be the start of another golden generation for Hurling. I can see Limerick winning an All-Ireland in the next 3 years and no I am not drunk. You have heard hear folks. Limerick could be champions in 2019 or 2020 if they leave Kiely in charge.

Cut short a holiday to get back to the house here on the west coast of the US, and watched the game streamed through the brother's phone home in Galway.

What a feeling. There'll be bonfires lit from Gort to Ballinasloe, Clarinbridge to Portumna.

And a small one here in the backgarden in Portland.

Gaillimh go deo!

WE often give Refs stick on here in post match analysis, only fair to say well done today. Best refereeing performance in years.
Really sorry for Waterford but Galway did deserve it,

I've posted long and often probably going a unheard about how much I hate Kilkenny ,

Well we hear you now. Hate is a very strong emotion, and I find it disturbing when it is directed against a group of people; whether it's their race, religion or which county they come from.

your post says it so much better than I ever could Even if it's said in jest the arrogance rings true from all my experience with Cats

"...the arrogance rings true from all my experience with Cats" And how many Cats would that be ...2 or 3, 20 or 30, 200 or 300?

The Hail Mary sideline cut and free from his own 45 both going wide when his team were crying out for ball to go into them as they needed a goal sums up Austin. He'd rather go for the glory himself from a low-percentage situation than the "boring" option of lobbing the ball into the square.

Congrats to Galway - richly deserved All Ireland.
The standout team of the championship. How they found themselves behind at one stage when they could have been out of sight... would have to credit Waterford for that. Superior scoring power and extra physicality won the day.

Good point CorkCelt. I thought he did well too. I was delighted for him because he came into this game under huge pressure.

That was nail-biting stuff and it is a huge relief to come away with the win. Galway showed great composure and the way they responded with 3 quick points after Waterford went ahead was crucial. It was a real panel effort with Niall Burke and Jason Flynn making major contributions when they came on. Hard luck to Waterford - ye gave it everything and pushed us all the way.

I'd question the ref over a few decisions. One when the game was in the melting pot and he gave a free to Galway for a Waterford overcarry. It was crucial. McInerney was holding the guys hurley prior to the over carry. 2 point swing. Over all he was good.

Game passed Gleeson by. When he's not 100% he's poor. He doesn't pass or do self less stuff. He 'll mature I'm sure

Congratulations! I believe Canning is still signing autographs and taking pics. He's some man! Enjoy the celebrations!

Think thats very unfair. Joe canning has missed his fair share of lune balls. Galway better team but not nice to be knocking players.

It might be the making of him in the long run.

Passed more than him by. That's the way finals go. Both management teams do some much homework on the opposing team that the majority of match ups end up cancelling each other out. I thought the Tipp vs Galway semi-final was similar with a handful of standout performances.

Well done Galway. Ultimate team performance today as they have given all year. Personally I said they hadn't it in them but I was very wrong. They're a very even team and had an excellent year.
They'll enjoy this for a while!
Hard luck to Waterford.
What performances de burca moran and Barron gave in particular

Spot on. Thought that myself watching the game. Excellent job done by him.

If the ref in the Football Final is as good then we can't ask for more than that.

ps. Forgot to say Hard Luck to Waterf
