The Cavan final hasn't been played yet.

Na Magha played in ulster intermediate club championship in 2015 - they must have won the derry intermediate that year so should have been senior in 2016 yet they played in the Derry junior i assume as they were in Ulster junior championship last year and again are ulster junior this year. anyone make any sense of this? surely they will be favorites to reach the final at least, not much hurling in monaghan, cavan or tyrone.

Indeed Keeper, it was just played yesterday. Mullahoran came out on top with a big win, seems like they're back with a bang now, especially after the carry on last year. They're on to Ulster next week against Naomh Columcille.

what is hard to understand? they moved up to intermediate. Just as Middletown from armagh won the intermediate in 2011 and went up to senior for a few years but moved back down because they hadnt won a senior game

It was surprisingly one-sided, actually.

Not a surprise for us actually. We were raging after what happened last year, we had games played and good training done, and were coming out all guns blazing. Also, shame on Cavan County Board, as there were no games set to play in Cavan bar the final. Mullahoran organised their annual Lucas O'Reilly memorial tournament which meant games against Longford and Westmeath club opposition. Sad state of affairs when you have to organise your own tournament and games to keep fresh as the County Board won't set up any decent league or championship.

Did Woodford Gaels attempt to field this year? Are St. Felim's & Ballymahugh gone? I'm aware of your tournament...ye didn't invite Cootehill into it anyway! lol In fairness to them, they're doing a lot more work at underage than Mullahoran are.

Ballymachugh are gone at this stage. Woodford attempted to pull together a team for this year but couldn't get one in time. St. Felims potentially could have got a team but they are still quite young. I imagine if a league was organised they would have tried this first to blood some more players., they will be there for the future when their players mature. They played last year but were just too young.

Yeah they are in fairness, we've not had a few teams at U-14 to minor level for a few years, but we've started back again at the school and have U10s and U12s for blitzes and such. Hope to have a decent underage structure again in a few years. Cootehill are doing well there

Ye should look at entering the Leitrim League next year. Teams from Longford, Leitrim & Sligo in it.

Distance. Mullahoran is on the border with Longford & not far at all from Leitrim whereas Cootehill is on the border with Monaghan & not far from Armagh.
