Big decision for Jim Gavin to make for the semi final vs Tyrone. Does he start Connolly or not? From a neutrals point of view, i hope he does so we all get to see exactly how skillful he is and what he adds to this already lethal Dublin team. Tough decision for him, even by including Connolly in panel means that he has to leave someone out who has been killing themselves to stay in the 26. Bring him in as an impact sub mid second half . Gets the crowd and team going. I feel he's almost a liability for a black/red starting a game like this after so long gone and coming into what will be a very physical game. A game that will probably have a bit of off the ball stuff going on. If I was Jim I just couldn't trust him. Superb player but his aggro is a liability in a game like this. I wouldn't start him personally , but would have absolutely no problem if Gavin did , for me having him back is a boost in itself , its win win , I can see him coming off the bench and if we are successful putting down a marker to start in the final.

If Connolly is in form, fit and ready and ahead of others on the Panel in this regard at this time then I am sure Gavin will have no hesitations in playing him. If Gavin feels others are better prepared at this point then he may not start. Will be a pure football decision as you play the players who are in best shape for the upcoming game. If I was Gavin I'd put him on the bench and bring him in around 45 minutes. The game will be played at a fierce pace and he may not be up to it having had no game time this summer. I think the decision on Connolly will in part be dictated by the fitness of Paul Flynn. I thing Dublin are going to need at least one of them on the pitch from the start, so if Flynn isn't fit then for me Connolly starts. If Flynn is then Gavin may hold him in reserve for a while until the game opens up, but I wouldn't be surprised to see both of them start. Start him. It's a no brainer. Even if it took him a while to get up to the pace Tyrone will have two fellas on him and Dublin can use this to their advantage to open up space for the forwards to do damage. If you bring him on I'm sure Tyrone will welcome him to the game and he could react and get a black/red which would put us in real trouble. A difficult call one way or the other. Its a bit like a lad with a dodgy hamstring if you're going to play him it has to be from the start I'd say he's raring to go anyway and can you imagine the welcome he'd get from the Tyrone players if he was coming on as a sub I'd say he'd be "met" a few times on the way in which would probably lead to cards being brandished and more bullsh*t around the whole saga and before the Tyrone lads jump any team would do it
