Replying To TheUsername:  "Funny mate i was out at one of the clubs in Dublin this week and one of the lads were telling me Dublin are creeping up the same number of games unbeaten in the championship as the Kerry team of the 70's and 80's.

Apparently the Kerry team of the 70's/80's went 19 games unbeaten until Offaly, it will be Dublin 17th game wihout defeat (not including replays) against Tyrone on Sunday.

Im tempting fate here i know."
I never really bothered with this games unbeaten stuff

I am sure the team are focused on just winning the next one

Replying To GaryMc82:  "I'm excited about this Dublin v Tyrone match, Dublin have have established themselves as the most dominant team of this decade with 4 All Ireland titles, while Tyrone now look set to rejoin the elite top 4 and have an air of confidence about them.

DUBLIN: We already know what Dublin bring, they play with high intensity all over the pitch and with real intelligence. Their exceptional forwards and half forwards mean that opposing teams are reluctant to push out on them, as if the opposition lose possession, it will have a high probability in resulting in a score for Dublin. Dublin's midfield is among the top 3 in the Country, their defence is strong and well drilled. And Cluxton is phenomenal, precision kick-outs and stopping ability.

TYRONE: Mickey has taken time to build this team, and it was time well spent. They previously threatened to make the breakthrough in 2013 and 2015, but last season when they finally managed to beat Donegal was the first time people believed they had something about special about them. Tyrone's problems in recent years hasn't been due to a lack of talent, but rather more to do with them struggling to find the right combination. They have produced exceptional forwards and half forwards within the County, and have worked hard on the defensive side of their game.

MANAGERS: I don't believe Jim Gavin's comments that he hadn't seen Tyrone play since February/March, he is a bit of a cute hoor like that, peddles the whiter than white persona on tv, when privately he and his backroom team have studied all of their key rivals very closely throughout the Championship. Jim Gavin is very competitive, and very professional in his approach, expect no stone to be left unturned. Likewise Mickey Harte will have had one eye on Dublin all year, they are after all the team to beat. He is another buck that has no slows in him, and will provide Dublin with a very thorough tactical examination in this game.

VERDICT: Tyrone by 4 or 5 points - I believe they will bring a level of hunger that Dublin might just struggle to match. The teams are fairly closely matched in when you balance out their attacking and defensive capabilities, kick-out strategies and the fact both have strong benches. Dublin have the experience edge, all of their players have already won All Ireland titles unlike the majority of Tyrone players, but the downside of that might be a lack of hunger in comparison to Tyrone. And I think this might just drive them on that bit harder. Dublin are very hard to beat though, they are strong all over the pitch and Tyrone will need to start well and maintain that focus and discipline throughout the match."
Jesus this looks like a column at the back of the sun.

I like the verdict but wouldn't be putting my money on that margin of victory. If we win at all it surely couldn't be by any more than one or two at best. Dublin haven't lost by 5 points in god knows how many years.

May as well go all out with underdog and throw a tener on McGregor to beat Mayweather/ Tyrone -4 and Mayo to do the job against Kerry. I'll never see that tener again but what harm."
Leave out McGregor and stick your tenner on a Mayo/Tyrone double.

It is unlikely that you will beat Dublin by 1 or 2 points in Championship. To beat them, you need to rattle them mentally and put them under real pressure entering the final 15-20 minutes, and the only way you will do that is by opening up a 4 or 5 point lead and then frustrating them with your defence. The scoring probability of even straightforward shots reduce dramatically for even the very top teams if they are well behind and struggling as they enter the closing stages of a match. If its only a point or two in it approaching 70 minutes, Dublin will still be composed and will likely level it or win it.

I tend to agree mate, would rather have the haul of Sams, just thought it was an interesting stat in regard to the debate above about "great teams" etc.

If I may say something that will annoy a lot of people (imagine that!!)

Now I have no way of knowing what way the game will go. Tyrone may win, Dubs may win, we will see Sunday, but.....this thing being bandied about that the teams are well matched...

They are in their holes!

The majority of the Dubs panel have 3-4 All Irelands. Not one or two of them, the majority of them.
Niall Morgan is not matched to Stephen Cluxton with his 4/5 All Stars and his 4 AI medals, plus captaining his country.
None of the Tyrone forwards have ever done anything to put them in the same bracket as Bernard Brogan, Diarmuid Connolly, Paul Flynn etc
(presuming that is that Sean Cav plays at MF of course)
None of them.

Tyrone are a fine team with a legend of the game in MF and another legend of the game in Sean Cav, and they may very well win on Sunday, and best of luck to them if they do, but to say the 2 sides are evenly matched.....
They are in their hole!!

I don't think the teams are evenly matched.

But. . .

There's actually a chance that none of those 3 forwards start on Sunday - don't think any of them started the Leinster final?

That leaves a (relatively) inexperienced Dublin forward line, even if it's not lacking in quality. And inexperience can cause poor performances especially against a well set up defence.

You mentioned Mickey Harte and I'm convinced he and Tyrone have geared their entire season towards this meeting with Dublin (ala Donegal 2014).
They have kicked long range scores in all their games rather than carry into the tackle or get caught too far forward - even against teams they were much better than.

Where's Clon when you need him ;) It will be interesting to see the hysteria around that after the last record.

Can't wait for the game on Sunday. Heart says Tyrone, Head says Dublin. I think I will stay on the fence for this one

I think Mickey will keep Sean C. on the bench from the start...bring him on later in the game....we need young ...fast moving players on from the start ..Sean seems to slow this game plan down ..especially when he comes out around the field...we will need him more at the later stages of this game...when there is space around..and experience needed!

His sending off last year against Mayo probably cost Tyrone that game.

So, the yardstick for judging a player is the number of All-Ireland medals he has in his pocket - not his ability. Maybe you are right but you would have to feel sympathy for all the great players who never won an All-Ireland medal - they were obviously useless.

I think you just described what Donegal did to them in the 2014 semi final, beat them by 6 points, they were well rattled towards the end, taking pot shots and lots of wides,it was the last time Dublin were beaten in the championship, I expect that record to still be intact entering the 2018 series too.

You obviously have no idea of how tyrone play. Buying into the usual bland nonsense if 14 men behind the ball

Everyone saying tyrone should push up on Dubs kickouts, I hope they do
Dubs MF is far stronger than Tyrone, I am hoping we go long, Fenton McCarthy would do very well against the Tyrone MF and if Tyrone have pushed up, Cluxton goes long and Fenton takes one out of the air with 2/3 of the tyrone lads in the Dubs half, it could spell trouble for them

Don't think I would agree with you that Dub's midfield is far stronger than Tyrone's, at least not in an aerial battle kind of way. Fenton a great player no doubt as is McCarthy but Kildare took them to the cleaners in the air for large spells. I think Tyrone could get plenty of joy with the two Cavanaghs, Donnelly, McCann and possibly McClure in around that area. That's if the kickouts go to the air which in many cases they won't! Fenton and McCarthy (and Flynn if he starts) would definitely have the pace to trouble Tyrone in that area but, something they haven't had to deal with yet this year
