Game of the Year to date. Cork v Mayo

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Another really brilliant championship game.

Cork deserve a lot of credit, many teams would have just lay down and died at 7 down early in the second half, they've taken some serious stick recently but you cant say they are lacking bottle or heart today.

Mayo ?? even if they win through here I just cant see them beating a Kerry and Dublin/Tyrone. Cork have been brilliant in the second half going forward but a Dublin/Kerry would absolutely blow this mayo defence out of the water. So reliant on COC and Andy Moran

Doing it the hard way Mayo. Get in!

Gonna make the celebratory DVD all the more interesting this year!

Fair play to them. They will not be easy beaten and I'd say they're only going to get tougher to beat once they get to Croke Park. I'd say they'd relish a go at the Kingdom

Cavan 22/07/2017 19:12 Cork v Mayo What a game so far. If Cork keep their discipline they should win this. Alan O'Connor needs to stop fouling if not take him off again as he could cost Cork this match

Only got to listen to it on the radio in the car. Sounded like Cork had only a handful of fit players left by the end. Pity they ran out of steam but at least they bow out fighting.

I like this Mayo team the way the come back each year but fair play to Cork for that performance. After watching the game I was really hoping for Cork to get a point to draw the match near the end as Cork deserved another day out.

I saw Mayo struggle past London in extra time and end up getting to an all Ireland final.

I have to say though that although I think Mayo showed why they are miles better than Cork in the ease they got their scores compared to Cork. However I feel the effort Cork put in restored my pride in them and I sincerely feel that a poor referee performance probably cost them on the day.

To be fair I think more lads stood up today in the forwards but I have to agree with you if we play like that defensively kerry or Roscommon will do damage. Fair play to cork they came back and did well from 7 points down.

I can only hope that we will perk up in croker. I'd would like to see us play kerry and have a good go at them but I can imagine that it is going to be tough against them

To hell with game of the year I can't take aspirin to help with heart attacks But will admit it must have been a great game for a neutral Pity more Cork supporters weren't there to see this great display

Great game. Congrats to Mayo and hard luck to Cork.

Mayo currently struggling to beat teams outside the top 4 or 5.

Kerry made Cork look like a Div 4 side a few weeks ago, on current form Kerry should win comfortably enough

Still though great heart from Mayo today, and their big game players stood up in ET

Hats off to Cork! Could have easily won the game..

Our backs were brutal. Made it a lot easier for Cork than it should have been. Fair play to Cork, they played great football, especially the young lad Powter.Their first goal was a cracker. If we play like that the next day, giving up a seven point lead, we can forget about it. Our forwards are slowly improving and if our defence can be as tight as the end of last season we could beat anyone.

Did the ref really blow up 30 seconds early?

I wouldn't have cared who won this to be honest but I noted at the final whistle how Aidan O' Shea went and immediately shook hands with the referee. I think that's because big Aidan knew that the ref was very decent to his team in that game. Mayo were awarded a lot of very soft frees in my mind. Cork missed 2 great goal chances and Mayo are lucky to be winners today. They were by no means deserving winners when looking at the play objectively. In fact I think that the better team on the day lost, and this Mayo team got a 1 point win thanks to some poor shot selection by Cork and a very sympathetic referee. I think both sets of players gave everything they had and that was a joy to watch and I can't fault either bunch of lads in their efforts. I simply can't stop feeling that Cork were a bit hard done by and as I saw big Aidy shake the refs hand I think he probably knew the ref helped them a bit too.

Heart attack stuff from Mayo again. 7 points up...cruising and like we always do sit back and allow the opposition onto us.

I feel sorry for Cork...they deserve better support. The Mackey Stand was absolutely rocking with Mayo fans and the crowd could have played a part in pushing Mayo over the line.

Love us or hate us...this Mayo team are not bottlers and never give up.

Very hard to see us win or even get to a final but we are still standing. Now for a big drink to cool down.

Yes 3 minutes is at least 3 minutes Not 2 minutes and 30 seconds It helped Mayo, Great but it's unacceptable

SeanieBoy leave it He seen Keegan get pulled from behind & done nothing but black card him for the trip All in all I thought he was pretty fair Except the 30 seconds he didn't play

Yeah he blew up early. 30 extra seconds with just a points difference is unfair on Cork. I'm relieved we're gonna through if we do. Looks from Sligo that we'll play Roscommon.

in 2013 two minutes added on against clare became 3. Today 3 minutes added on became 2 minutes 30 seconds.in 2013 i was told by numerous people on this site that the two minutes is a MINIMUM the ref will play but that did not apply today. strange maybe even a conspricacy.we left that one behind us today and how aidan o shea was not black carded is beyond me. Still where out so the world is a better place. Before people say im bitter we would not have won an all ireland but fair is fair and today was not fair
