Well Galway DID struggle against Meath, and it was shocking. This is a competition they should be winning comfortably. Taking more nearly 20 frees in shot out to score FOUR says it all. How lucky are this management that they haven't had to go up against Kerry, Cork, Tipp, or Dublin. JimmyShoeShine (Galway) - Posts: 196 - 05/11/2017 19:30:18 2060649 Link 1 |
Again a great advertisement for Ladies football and very well supported. Kil/ Clonberne will be very disappointed for sure, up by 4 points entering the last 10 mins. The last few minutes will stay with them for awhile. They will be back as they have unbelievable talent coming through. At least we have 2 Connacht Champions in Galway with Moycullen and Tuam/Cortoon, best of luck to both Teams in their respective All Ireland Semi Finals in a few weeks. kasbah1967 (Galway) - Posts: 7 - 05/11/2017 20:36:41 2060654 Link 0 |
More like the fiona mchale show...was like having an extra player in midfield...as for the cora goal-the player rushed off the line and thats where it dropped in....the carnacon goalie was beaten by a long looping shot also in the early minutes. carnacon were missing claire egan today and still won....they will be areound for a while yet squares_edge (Galway) - Posts: 680 - 05/11/2017 21:51:54 2060668 Link 0 |
I cant imagine the mayo girls have many more Connacht titles left in the tank, they arent producing as many young stars as their Galway counterparts. Big shock in Ulster as well, Tyrone champs winning out. JimmyShoeShine (Galway) - Posts: 196 - 06/11/2017 20:16:38 2060862 Link 0 |
I think Tuam are at home but Moycullen will have to travel for their semi final marym (Cork) - Posts: 242 - 06/11/2017 21:16:03 2060876 Link 0 |
Well done to the U21s on a comprehensive win in today's Aisling McGing Final. 10 15 is some scoring and it's this trams biggest win ever over Mayo. A lot of these girls have now won at every underage level from U14,U16,Minor and now U21. Going by today's performance there is the makings of All-Ireland winning Senior Team in the County within the next two years.

Always great to win a title at any age group, and well done to all involved BUT let's keep it in perspective. Mayo were awful and Meath should have beaten Galway in semi final. And this was an U21 competition without Cork or Dublin. Let's not predict a senior All Ireland on the back of a penalty shoot out win over Meath and an expected defeat of a terrible Mayo team. No need to put that pressure on these girls. Let them progress without expectations like that. Let's not forget Cork are going for FOUR minor titles in a row!!! I think that is a little more impressive.

Awful pity that the county u-21 manger wouldn't applaud the small panel of girls that turned up to last sundays game against meath bearing in mind that if galway lost that game they would not have been in all ireland final yesterday I applaud those girls cause yesterday's game was a walk in the park but a win is a win Lollypop22 (Galway) - Posts: 5 - 13/11/2017 15:49:31 2062109 Link 2 |
Were girls, who hadn't trained or played in semi final, started yesterday at the expense of girls who had trained and been at every game? If so that's a joke.

That's exactly what happened girls that played in semi final left on side line galway only had 17 girls turn up for game against meath and give credit where credit is due that bunch of girls got galway to the all ireland final on sunday but as usual county manager did not show respect to those girls it was all about certain girls coming back to play final and mayo were very poor and those girls weren't needed manger could have played the team that bet meath and than Brough on those girls that came back and county wounder why so many good players leave county set up

Wouldnt agree there at all ,, you take one game at a time and you always start the best team available,,,,, thats the way its done and thats the way it should be done,,,,put your best team available out on the field......

I don't totallying disagree with you but everyone knew whathat mayo had to offer this year in this championship so why not have played the team that bet meath and if they were strundling than put out girls that came back for the final

Galway were never ever going to lose that game. Agree that it was very disrespectful to those who were dropped to accommodate girls who turned up for the final. Also I'm sure it put those girls in an awkward position as well. Management trying to pander to certain people. Ruined what should have been a good day and has caused unnecessary bad feelings. disagree totally...attitude like this has the county set up as it is, players not playing and bad feeling, You MUST play the players who train but unfortunately this was an exercise to try to appeal to players who refused to play for the senior set up....bad form. as for winning the under 21 all ireland it is devalued without dubs and cork but still its a nice medal to look back at in years to come... quite sad that some of the meath match day squad wont look back with such fond memories... squares_edge (Galway) - Posts: 680 - 14/11/2017 18:22:43 2062345 Link 2 |
Couldn't agree more. Weak management. Awful, awful decision. Is it any wonder there is such negative feelings in Galway

Total nonsence,,,play the best team available,, have managed several teams at all age groups,,,, always took one game at a time,,,just because players turn up for training dosent mean they should be on the starting fifteen......

Reply to hoppingball with that attitude it's no wounder that so many good young footballers are walking away from the sport and this is visible in the senior ladies setup this year ,it's a ageing team with so many of the younger ladies who excelled at underage not even getting a look in because that old attitude of yours still rules the roost Lollypop22 (Galway) - Posts: 5 - 15/11/2017 13:31:50 2062472 Link 0 |
I believe he should have started the 15 who beat Meath. The Game was over as a contest at half time. Changes should have been made sooner. kasbah1967 (Galway) - Posts: 7 - 15/11/2017 18:05:07 2062537 Link 0 |
