Clare minor hurlers 2017

(Oldest Posts First)

Unbelievable result to beat Waterford in such a manner. I have never heard of a team scoring 1-16 without REPLY in the Munster Championship.

Not sure what standard Waterford are at, but I would have thought they would be relatively strong given their recent underage exploits. Regardless, what a performance by our youngsters.

Even more pleasing (although it may come back to bite us) was the fact that we scored 1-24 and hit 17 wides. Serious scoring & shooting in 60 minutes of hurling. Sounds like Waterford totally imploded in the second half and only scored 2 points going 34 minutes without a score.

Well done to all involved.

Disappointing that not to see any townies on the team or subs that came on yesterday.

Absolutely great win for the young lads. Some outstanding performances! Keith white was superb at midfield scoring 6 points, cian minogue really impressive at center back, as was tiernan agnew at corner forward and captain cian mcinerney at corner back.

Its interesting actually lohan that there are no townies as you would expect them to have the largest selection if players.
Inagh/kilnamona just up past ennis in mid clare seem to be a real up and coming club in the county. They had 4 players starting last night with one on the bench as well. They are also in this years under 21A final and if i remember correctly they won that last year aswell. With 2 clare seniors on that team (fitzgerald and mccarthy) they should win it this year aswell!

Great to win missed a shed load of chances Thought Goalie Fullback both wing backs midfielders and Angew very good they took off no 12 Conor Tierney who was doing ok but Lee Brack free taker very erratic from frees and woulden't catch any high balls even though he is a big lad. White midfielder excellent.

Cork are the favourites i believe having won everything on their year.

It's interesting that there's 'No Townies'..haha. Ennis per head of population must be one of the worst sporting towns in Ireland. They don't have a decent rugby, hurling or soccer team that are recognised at a national level. It's like a mini Galway city..kids too busy growing smelly dread locks or busking, set dancing, playing fiddles or going on anti capitalist or anti Trump marches to to focus on sport. It's a tragedy on an epic scale because there's great potential there.

Haha that is one of the most outrageous things i have ever read! Theres nothing wrong with kids dancing or playing music - each to their own!

Eire og have a reasonably strong senior hurling team with the likes of reidy, o'donnell, davy o'halloran, danny russell and dara walsh. Wouldnt be far off top 5/6 in the county.
They won the senior football a few years ago and are always challegning for that title.

I wouldnt be as sure about the goings on in rugby and soccer to be honest. But overall that was a very silly post bloodyban

Very poor comment bloodyban, you do not have the local knowledge to make comments like that. Also, an undercurrent of nastiness towards Clare from you lately...no need.

Two games last Saturday in Cusack Park Dublin under 17s and minors v their Clare counter parts , Dublin won a close first game by a point , Dublin Minors won with a bit to spare in the second game, was talking to a chap who confirmed it was a shadow team as there are dual players none of whom started for Clare ,, so cant gauge anything from that , some poor hurling on show from all sides which Id put down to pitch just sanded.
Just a small complaint no flags around the pitch ,

No I love Clare, best of all the western counties...all belonging to me are from South East Clare (The best part of Clare). I stand over my comments regarding Ennis. Iv plenty of knowledge and the evidence backs my opinion up. The commitment to team sports just isn't there. Eire og are not a top class club. They start every year without a hope of winning the senior. There's towns half it's size with 2 and 3 gaa clubs. Carrick on suir being one. Tralee smaller than ennis has 4 gaa clubs. 3 are senior..the list goes on. The rugby team isn't a senior ail team..the soccer teams are very average compared to the junior teams in Limerick and Tipperary.
I was being tongue in cheek about the ceili music and set dancing...good for footwork training. Just don't get me started on hippies..people before profit and left wingers...

Great win v Limerick and great to have both teams in the Munster Final. I hope the Clare support get in early to give the lads the support they need and deserve.

well said Lohan, we need to get out in big numbers to supppor them. That is not a bad clare minor team, maybe not the class of 2010-12 teams but some good hurlers and great heart and spirit to beat a tough limerick outfit.

This year already better than last for us in Munster. Fair play to all involved last night .

Agreed, great to see the minors into the munster final.. Some very good performances, in particular foudy in goal, the full back (hayes i think), as well as minogue, mccarthy and tiernan agnew really stood up and lead from the front.

Good luck to the minors. I think they've a great chance but will need Cork to be a little off from their replay exploits..

How did it all fall apart, any online video of it. Clare much fancied after win over Waterford and fancied Limerick team.

Cork are an exceptional team and well deserved the win. Clare tried hard but were outclassed. Ir was obvious from early in the year than Cork n Tipp were the 2 strong sides in the province.

Even though the minor well beaten the senior result was much more disappointing, simply because that is a very good cork minor team. They have some serious hurlers, the likes of connery, turnbull, sheehan, the full back and the center back are all quality hurlers. The clare team was built on a very strong half backline - all of whom i thought did well and were probably our 3 best players, but they are lacking a lot in the forward line, we were far too reliant on agnew. I havent seen the galway minors so its hard to judge the quarter final, but i wouldnt be very optimistic due to our lack of scoring options.

Without forwards it was to be a hiding but what astonished how bare the cupboard looks for Clare hurling when one looks at the overwhelming defeats. Just wonder what a youth development is doing?
