Mayo's involvement in the drawn and replayed All-Ireland football finals has contributed to a dramatic rise in team expenses.

Figures released ahead of annual convention later this month show an increase of nearly 46 per cent in the cost of running teams from €880,316 in 2015 to €1,632,448 this year.

At the same time, income increased by 44 per cent which means the county board still recorded a surplus of €87,329 for the year.

Total expenditure rose from €2,035,082 in 2015 to €2,989,659 this year, but total income was also up from €2,130,781 to €3,076,988. Other factors in the rise in expenditure was Mayo's involvement in the All-Ireland U21 and junior football finals as well as in the Nicky Rackard Cup and All-Ireland U21 'B' hurling finals.
