Leitrim native Padraig McGourty has been installed as the new IT Sligo football manager.

McGourty is a lecturer in the college, while he also has a wealth of management experience at club and county.

For the past two years, he worked with the Leitrim senior footballers under the managership of Shane Ward.

Speaking to the Leitrim Observer, McGourty stated that he was delighted to be given the opportunity to manage the college footballers.

"I am looking forward to guiding IT Sligo's senior footballers through the year ahead," said McGourty.

"There is a proud tradition in colleges Gaelic football here at IT Sligo and with a number of exciting young and talented players attending the college from across the West, North West and further afield there is no reason why the team cannot be contenders in the forthcoming competitions in 2016/2017."
