Pete McGrath's decision to stay on as Fermanagh manager for another year has been welcomed by star forward Tomas Corrigan.

Earlier in the week, the Down native revealed that he would be staying on in the role for another term and Corrigan feels that has been a good move for the future of the county.

The St Oliver Plunkett's clubman told the Fermanagh Herald if the county is to progress from here, they need some stability throughout the management team and squad.

"Continuity is definitely key," said Corrigan. If a new manager comes in it takes a year for them to put their stamp on things, so it was very important to have Pete back. If it's not broken don't fix it. With a few small tweaks I think we can push on next year."

Corrigan knows that it could have been a case of 'what might have been' had they beaten Mayo in the qualifiers.

"The thing is we know we can beat teams around the standard of Kildare and Westmeath. I wouldn't be disappointed that we have missed out on an opportunity to play these teams because it doesn't bring us on at this stage.

"What we really wanted is to beat a team like Mayo, a team that are in division one. We just didn't get across the line for a number of reasons."
