Tipperary captain Peter Acheson says they won't take anything for granted when they face Waterford in Sunday's Munster SFC quarter-final in Dungarvan.

Of the 21 players that featured against the Deise men on the same stage last year, 11 have departed Tipp's panel but their skipper is now looking at the positives from the Premier County's mass exodus.

"It's an awful lot alright," Acheson admitted in an interview with GAA.ie. "Look, all we can do is drive on. We're training stronger than we ever did.

"Waterford have been our bogey team over the years, especially down there. In Thurles, maybe a different story but down there, they're tough, they're solid. It will be a low scoring affair but if we work as hard as them, hopefully we can come through.

"There's less chance of complacency now. We won't take anything for granted, Waterford have a serious team down below, very hard to beat anyway but down in Waterford especially. It will probably be a windy day down there! Tight pitch, you know yourself."

On the addition of dual star Bill Maher, Acheson enthused: "He's a brilliant footballer, brilliant to have him in. It cancels one of the other lads out straight away. The set-up is brilliant too, Liam (Kearns) is very professional, Ian Dowling, I can't say enough about him, he's fantastic, Dave Moriarty is brilliant and the rest of the lads, Paul Fitzgerald, Shane Stapleton, all top notch."

Throw-in at Fraher Field on Sunday is at 3.30pm.
