Scotstown boss Mattie McGleenan says his side's shortcomings last season saw him to blame.

The current Monaghan champions lost out to a Conor McManus-inspired Clontibret in last year's county final by a point and since then have been on a rampage that has led to their 16th Mick Duffy Cup, along with a long-awaited Ulster club SFC final against Crossmaglen Rangers tomorrow.

"Last year was my fault and I would put it down to what I call 'success disease'," McGleenan told The Irish Sun.

"We probably got carried away and when you lose a county final by a point, you suddenly realise what you have missed.

"Since that, the players have been outstanding and we've only lost three games all season and are in the league final next Friday.

"This is the first time we have all been in an Ulster final and I've said to the players to try their best and enjoy it."

While the Armagh champions' pedigree sees them favourites once again, McGleenan insists that there is no pressure on his side for the clash at the Athletic Grounds.

"Crossmaglen are Crossmaglen but Scotstown have a tradition of their own," he said.

"They have four Ulster titles but it's 26 years since any Monaghan club won it and there is no baggage with us, we can just go out and enjoy it."
