Shane Long secured his place in the annals of Irish sport by scoring the winning goal for the Republic of Ireland in last night's Euro 2016 qualifier against Germany at the Aviva Stadium.
The Gortnahoe man grabbed the only goal in the 70th minute to sink the World champions and earn Martin O'Neill's men a playoff spot at the very least. Before embarking on his soccer career, Long was a budding Tipperary hurler, representing the Premier in two All-Ireland minor semi-finals a decade ago.
Messages of congratulations have been flowing in for Shane and his Irish team-mates on social media since last night's famous victory. Here's just a few of them.
