Donegal midfielder Neil Gallagher has heaped praise on his club colleague and county captain Michael Murphy.

Speaking to the Donegal Democrat, Gallagher stressed that Murphy was an inspirational captain, despite being only in his mid-twenties.

"For a young fella, only 25/26, he's a great captain," said Gallagher. "You just couldn't describe him, the leadership he shows. I read there someone speaking about Paul O'Connell that he wouldn't ask any of the players to do something he wouldn't do himself.

"Murphy would be the same. You will see him putting his body on the line. He would be one of our best tacklers. You couldn't speak highly enough of him as regards the leadership he shows.

"And then with his ability, people want to follow him. He just lifts everyone."
