Former underage prodigy Kyle Coney is one of six players who have exited the Tyrone senior set-up ahead of the Allianz Football League Division 1.

The star of Tyrone's 2008 All-Ireland minor success has left the squad after failing to secure a regular starting place while the experienced Joe McMahon will also sit out the league campaign to concentrate on his studies.

The 31-year-old, who celebrated the birth of his second child recently, is currently studying for a PGCE in Coleraine but is expected back for the championship.

Another experienced defender, Dermot Carlin, has opted out for similar reasons.

Mark Donnelly, Plunkett Kane and Kevin Gallagher, meanwhile, have been deemed surplus to requirements by Mickey Harte.
