Roscommon manager John Evans has revealed that Kevin Higgins may not be out of action as long as first feared.

Initial reports were suggesting that the Western Gaels' player may be sidelined for the year, but Evans revealed to the Roscommon Herald that a second opinion has painted a brighter picture.

"We went for a second opinion on Kevin and he got good news during the week," said Evans. "We're hoping to see him back towards the end of the league."

The Rossies will have Donie Shine, Ultan Harney, David Keenan and Finbar Cregg available for selection as they prepare to take on Cavan at Kiltoom on Sunday.
