Johnston: confidence is high

Longford minor manager Gareth Johnston
Longford minor manager Gareth Johnston is confident that if his side perform to the best of their abilities then they have a great chance of defeating Dublin in the opening round of the Leinster championship.

The Leinster league champions go into Saturday's game at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park with high hopes and Johnston told the Longford Leader that preparations have gone well.

"We are not going for damage limitation against Dublin," said Johnston. "We are going to win the game. Just because you are a small county doesn't mean you are a weak county.

"I do believe that. It's all about those lads on the pitch. We have had a good conversation about Dublin and are going to go out will all guns blazing. That's the way I want to play football and so do all the lads. As long as they give the performance that is in them we won't be too far off."
