Sunday 14 August 2016

Lisbellaw hosts in this battling round 2 of Ulster Club Minor Hurling League of 2016, in this games concluding half, overcame a two-point half time lead by visitors Monaghan, to win this mach. Back to the game's beginning, when Darragh McGauran over his side's opening pointed score from play. The St Patrick's side now massively increased their lead, when Nathan Timoney grabbed an incoming slithor, and then quickly banged home his side's first major score from play. With the game's opening quarter fast receding, they Monaghan visitors now entered the scoring game, when in quick they registered firstly puck over a point, followed moments later they banged home their first goal. Bringing about this matches first draw of 1 goal 2 points apiece. If the opening quarter was mostly dominated by Lisbellaw, the second quarter was eventually ruled by the Monaghan team. It was the still dominant St Patrick's, when Darragh McGauran blasted home his side's second goal from play. Moments later Lisbellaw's Dylan Bannon clipped over his side's third point from play.

However, it was against the run of play that revitalised Monaghan side's registered the games next two major from play, which put the Harps players in front, with morale telling score of 3 goals 2 points to 2 goals 3 points for hosts Lisbellaw. With the Lisbellaw up field forward now being temporary subdued, it fell to mid field giant Eoin Cleary to clip over his side's last two points of the opening half. The Monaghan lads were more than equal to the host challenge, when the Farney lads pucked over the opening half's last points.

Half Time Scores

Lisbellaw St Patrick's, 2 gls. 5 pts; Monaghan Harps, 3 gls. 4 pts.

Second half

Lisbellaw Come Battling Back

It was the still dominant Monaghan lads that decisively increased their lead with another major morale boosting goal from play, to bring their scores to a telling 4 goals 4 points to a modest 2 goals 5 points for their Cavanacarragh hosts. To an indifferent spectator, who came into the park, this was they Harps match to lose or to win. There was little indication in the matches' third quarter to indicate that they Monaghan lads would fritter away a handsome lead of four points. It was the partially revitalised Lisbellaw side's lead notably by mid-fielder Eoin Cleary, who clipped his side's sixth and seventh points from frees. They latter scorer was joined by club mate Ciaran Duffy for the St Patrick's point from play. With the third quarter ebbing away, it was still the dominant Monaghan side, who added a fifth point to the score sheet. Now with matches' fourth quarter entered, it was the now rejuvenated Lisbellaw lads, who massively upped their game, particularly in the attack. Noticeably were the searing runs by the diminutive Tom Kennan, through the now porous Monaghan defence. His unselfish leadship to his team mates gained further match winning minor scores from Eoin Cleary, Luca McCusker and Ciaran Duffy. Though the far from undone Monaghan side battled on, but the more superior Lisbellaw lads finished as justified winners of this Round "2" game.

We are praying for his complete return to robust and back into the leadership of Lisbellaw Hurling Club.
