I didn't dive - O'Shea

Mayo star Aidan O'Shea says his "conscience is clear" over last weekend's controversial penalty incident against Fermanagh which saw him accused of diving.

The Breaffy clubman has come in for heavy criticism from many quarters over the past week and took the opportunity to defend himself following yesterday evening's 2-17 to 0-14 win over Kildare in Castlebar.

"Unfortunately, with the world of social media and that it's going to be all over the place," O'Shea told Sky Sports afterwards.

"The disappointing part was we'd one camera angle on it. National broadcasters only brought one camera down here and it's disappointing that there's only one angle to show it - everybody gets to see something in a flash second.

"But my conscience is clear. I didn't flop and I'm happy enough (with the outcome). It was probably more difficult for my family and stuff over the last couple of days, but I'm just delighted to get back out on the field, help my team and get the game under the belt."

Asked if he felt he was an amateur player being judged by professional standards, O'Shea replied: "I just don't think I dived - bottom line.

"I see people having a cut at me and that's alright…I can be judged and criticised fairly, I've no problem with that. I just felt it was probably unfair during the week.

"It's behind me now. We won the game today and we've got enough stick over the last couple of weeks."
