Today is an extremely proud day for all Antrim Gaels, as Rasharkin man, Michael Hasson, became the 35th Ulster GAA President at the Ulster Convention in Owenbeg.
The last Antrim man to hold the office was Seamus McFerran from Belfast back in 1951.
In a statement published on their website (antrim.gaa.ie), Antrim GAA states: "This is a very fitting honour for a man who has devoted so much of his time and efforts to promoting the GAA in such a positive way."
It continues: "Anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Michael will know that he is absolute gentleman who will do whatever he can to promote the GAA."
Hasson replaces Martin McAviney whose three year term has come to an end while Cavan's Oliver Galligan was elected unopposed as Vice-President.
