Ulster Club Championships launched at Garvaghey

October 08, 2015

There was fantastic turnout with over 25 clubs represented.

The 2015 Ulster Club Championships were launched on Wednesday 7th October in the fabulous setting of the Tyrone GAA Centre at Garvaghey.

Once again the Ulster Club Football and Hurling Championships were launched together along with the Ulster Ladies Football and Camogie Championships, and there was a fantastic turnout with over 25 clubs representing every grade of the 2015 Championships.

Ulster GAA President Martin McAviney addressed those in attendance: "I am delighted to see such a huge turnout of clubs here at tonight's launch, which reinforces the importance of the club teams within their local communities. While there are several clubs who have many County titles to their name, some clubs here will be competing in the Ulster Club Championship for the very first time so I would encourage all to make the most of it and enjoy every moment. I would remind supporters that 50% of all gate income from Ulster Club Championship matches is reinvested directly to the participating clubs, so get out and support your clubs."

Ulster Camogie Chairperson Kathleen Woods said: "I warmly congratulate all club's on their County success and wish them well in their Provincial Championship campaign. I am delighted that Ulster is leading the way again in terms of integration with the female codes at tonight's launch and I am sure we will have some outstanding action across all codes over the next two months."

Speaking on behalf of Ulster Ladies Gaelic, their Secretary Mary Keegan commented: "The Ulster Club Championships are a very special occasion, and I have very fond memories of my own club competing in them many years ago. We have once again got a very exciting draw in the Ladies Gaelic Championships and I look forward to some fantastic games."
