Central Council have big decisions to make in Gaelic football

Bookmakers could soon have to permanently suspend their betting on minor football and hurling fixtures.

Meath officer Paddy Kelly revealed at last night's meeting of the County Committee in Kilmessan that Central Council are committed to put an end to gambling on underage games nationwide.

"Central Council want a stop put to betting on minor games," Kiltale clubman Kelly told club delegates at the meeting, which saw senior manager Mick O'Dowd ratified to a second term with the Royal County.

The GAA has upped their stance on gambling recently, with a submission from its Community and Health Department set to be presented to the Government - who are currently drafting the Gambling Control Bill - following approval by the GAA's Management Committee last month.
