Lisbellaw Defeat 14 Man Keady At Home-At Last
Lisbellaw St Patrick's, 1 gl. 14 pts., Keady Lamh Dhearg, 0gl. 14pts.
After many years of trying Lisbellaw senior hurlers finally defeated a fourteen man Keady at home in St. Patrick's Park, Cavanacarragh on Tuesday the 7th of July 2015.  The St Patrick's lads were greatly assisted in this long time sought victory by the foolish fouling by a Keady player, who in a bizarre incident in a nanosecond of the matches' interval appeared to make illegal contact with his opposition opponent. Immediately Cavan referee flashed a straight red card to the Keady offender. Ironically it was their Lisbellaw opponents that unwittingly came to the fourteen man south Armagh side's rescue, when with a multitudes of unforgivable wide and lack of discipline further down the park gifted Keady, with valuable points in the game's concluding.  However it was the much more airtight St Patrick's defence lead by the experienced Mathew Teague, with the up-and-coming hurling stars such as Aaron Magee, Odhran Russell and Davy Teague that won the day for the host's Lisbellaw side.
The game-the first half.
Keady and Lisbellaw off to Quick Scoring Start
Paul Breen for visitors Keady and Danny Teague for hosts Lisbellaw got this Ulster G.A.A. CLUB HURLING LEAGUE tie for 2015 off to quick scoring, with exchanging points.  Thus creating the first draw of the match with one point a-piece. However it was much more adventurous and accurate St Patrick's side that registered the next two minor scores from frees by their ace scorer John Duffy. Not to be out scored Keady's own ace scorer Paul Breen stepped up to the scoring plate, with Lamh Dhearg's second and third points. Yet again creating this matches' second draw of three points apiece. That latter scoring equanimity was finally shatter, at the beginning of the game's second quarter,  when they hosts Lisbellaw began systematically to outscore their south Armagh opponents   with an additional six points by half, when firstly live wire Danny Teague soloed in and pucked over his second and his side's fourth point. They latter was now joined by team mates   Sean Corrigan, with his opening scoring salvo of two points. As this match was fast approaching its' interval the visibly more confident St Patrick's side added further points from Declan McGarry ( 2 pts.), another single point from Sean Corrigan. Then it was Lisbellaw's scoring ace of the opening half John Duffy, with his side's eighth and ninth points to complete his and St Patrick's very satisfactory thirty minutes of skill and scoring.  However their Keady guests were not mere observers and successfully registered as modest but impressive further four points from firstly Connor Curbin (1 pt.) and the last three points of the opening half came from ace free taker Paul Breen.  It didn't take a genius work out who were the happy campers up on Cavanacarragh.
Half time scores
Lisbellaw St Patrick's, 0 gl. 9 pts., Keady Lamh Dhearg, 0gl. 7pts.
Half time Incident
In bizarre incident into  nanosecond into the matches' interval Cavan referee had to "straight red" a Keady player for his involvement in a an the off the ball contact, with an opponent Lisbellaw hurler.
Second half
Getting Hotter Still!
Whilst Lisbellaw's opponent's Keady were now done fourteen men and the St Patrick's side did attempt tom seize the scoring initiative, their various forays into the south Armagh defences were negated by a combination if inexcusable wide and carelessly passing in front of their opponents goals.  Back into the hurling action, and the first score of the final half came from seemly quite giant J.P. McGarry who rose high into the Cavanacarragh sky and then "fielded" the slithor, in one uninterrupted action puck the slithor over his opponent's crossbar for Lisbellaw's 10th minor score of this game. But Keady's ace free taker Paul Breen now successfully clipped over his sides' eight point from a free. However that last visitors score was alas a false down for the south Armagh, for Lisbellaw's ace scorer Sean Corrigan, with a spectacular major sought to put the outcome out of sight, and a long sought after St Patrick's victory over their hurling foes. But two obsessions sought thwarted it; the absurd belief held by the Keady players that they were still the better side.  The other was they Lisbellaw curse of stroking wide after wide, whether from frees or play, allied with a of unforgivable lack of discipline by a small minority of players. However it was the much more airtight St Patrick's defence lead by the experienced Mathew Teague, with the up-and-coming hurling stars such as Aaron Magee, Odhran Russell and Davy Teague that saved and won the day for the host's Lisbellaw side.  With the late third quarter scoring now registered as 1 goal 10m points to 8 points  for the visitors.  Both teams now vastly upped their playing and scoring game, with additional second half points for St. Patrick's from Sean Corrigan (1pt.), J.P. McGarry (1pt.) and John Duffy (2 pts.). Now well into the fourth and final quarter a for from subdued Keady side vainly sought to close the scoring gap with St Patrick's, but he had to satisfied with a final score of 14 points.
