Lisbellaw in their first match suffered a decisive defeat by Ardfert St Brendan's, who displayed superior catching skills and in the opening moment's quickly registered 1 goal and 2 points to a modest 2 points for the Lisbellaw youngsters. At the end of truncated opening half of fifteen minutes the far more skilfully north Kerry side lead by a decisive 1 goal 3 points to a more modest score of 4 points for the St Patrick's lads.

In an almost mirror image of the game's opening half St Brendan's dominated play and scoring, when Ardfert added further matching total of 2 goals 3 points to St Patrick's slightly more modest 1 goal 2 points. Though the Lisbellaw lads found a scoring momentum in the final half they St Patrick's youngsters were no match for the superior catching and scoring skills of the north Kerry, who's many star players were well distributed throughout their team. In awful truth this St Brendan's side were mis-matched against the never say day die Lisbellaw, who had scores from Lucas McCusker 4 points and 1 goal 2 points for Tom Keenan.

Visitors Carlow slowly adapting to the Northern sporting climate now added a dramatic major score by Barry Dooley. The response from Lisbellaw was quick and incisive, with two more goals and three more points from Tom Keenan, Aidan Flanagan, Ben Corrigan and Luca McCusker. When the full time whistle blew at the end of this game there was no mystery, who was the winners. St Patrick's chalked up another morale boosting victory, which they would desperately need in their next game

The cliché a game of two half's, was literary true, when both contestants registered 4 points apiece at the matches' interval. Tom Keenan and Luca McCusker shared two points apiece. Whilst Athboy's Connor McGovern bagged his side's four points. But just before half time Lisbllaw's iconic Luca McCusker had apparently been forcibly stamped by a Clanna Na Gael Player. He then lay prone on the pitch for the entirety of the interval.

It was now a more forcibly led Clann Na nGael that seized the scoring initiative, with goals and points in the opening moments of the concluding half. A now visibly below par Lisbellaw side now found it difficult to defend and then attack back up mid-field. Eventually the more determined Clann Na nGael outfit ran out comfortable at the match's full time.
