Pete McGrath believes Fermanagh are capable of reaching the All-Ireland quarter-finals.

The veteran manager was accentuating the positives after the Erne County's 0-13 to 1-20 Ulster SFC semi-final defeat to neighbours Monaghan, a scoreline which greatly flattered the Farneymen.

"Obviously, their power, experience and their ability to maximise the situations that they created was greater than ours and they are further down the road than us in terms of their development," McGrath is quoted in the Irish News.

"That is a factor in games. You need cool heads and composure that at times they had and at times we lacked.

"But we will learn from that today and take a lot of positives out of it because I think for long periods we matched Monaghan - certainly one of the top teams in the country.

"It is our objective now, and we took a pledge in there, that we fully intend to be playing football in August. That is what we are targeting because I know we are good enough to do that if we learn from this game and keep promoting the things that we are good at - like the character, the courage and the temperament that we showed for long periods."
