Fermanagh Remember Shane With A Win.
Fermanagh senior hurlers, with an eight point victory paid fitting tribute to their recently deceased team mate Shane Mulholland in round one of the Lory Meagher competition.  Registering 1 goal 6 unanswered scores over their exiled visitors. Begin with two points from centre half forward Kevin McGarry and a further four points from the supremely inform ace free taker and mid-fielder John Duffy.  They Fermanagh hosts early opening half's scoring was culminated by a brilliant major score by the Ernesider's right half forward and captain John Paul McGarry.  At the quarter way stage this matches score was the very surprisingly 1 goal 6 points for the Fermanagh hosts to nil all scores for their exile visitors Warwickshire.
However, and with this increasingly up-tempo match entering its second quarter the formerly under-the-cosh visitor's side suddenly found their scoring skills with a vengeance, when they banged and blasted home two great morale boosting goals from David Milea.  Fermanagh attackers replied with three points from John Duffy, Ciaran Corrigan and Shea Curran. Their opponents also registered three points in the second quarter from David Milea, Emmett McCabe and Sean Hennessey. With the matches interval looming, a previous point scorer for the Ernesider's right full forward Ciaran Corrigan, dramatically upped his scoring ability, who seized on an incoming slithor and efficiently continued it on into his opponents nets, when he blasted home his first, but Fermanagh's second goal from play. With the matches half time whistle being blown there was mixed emotions by opposing sides. The Fermanagh hosts would look back at their sheer scoring dominance of the opening quarter, but they would have to play against the wind in the closing half. Whilst their exile visitors would glean some satisfaction that after a non-scoring eighteen minutes they eventually found their shooting sticks and banged home two morale boosting goals. But ironically only added 3 points in the opening half.

The Wind Or Warwickshire Won't Stop Fermanagh Now!
On the matches resumption despite the wet and windy conditions both sides maintained their playing tempo and but with reduced scoring rates. In stark contrast to this game's opening quarter both teams engaged in scoring tit-for-tat points, with the first minor score for the visitors coming from Connor Robins. Quickly but accurately both John Duffy and  Danny Teague slotted over their respective points from a free and play to bring the early second half scoring, 2 goals 11 points for the Fermanagh lads to a more modest score of 2 goals 5 points for the exiles.  The relatively modest third quarter scoring by both contestants would be for one side soon dramatically changed. With the games fourth quarter now entered, both teams maintained successful minor scoring tactics, with appoint apiece from firstly Warwickshire's Colon Moran, and then John Duffy returned the free taking scoring plate duties, when he clipped over his county's twelfth and last point.  However they Ernesider's were not done scoring, that is of the major category, and was the flying right full forward that yet again was to penetrate his opponents most important defence, when he again burst through to blast home his second and his sides third goal from play.   With moments to full time the now well defeated visitors were modestly compensated with their last and seventh point. With that last score, and the final whistle now been blown, a Fermanagh team, who had very recently being in sombre mood, with loss of their team mate, where not permitted a victorious smile of victory. Thus halting a serious of defeats. True a week is a long time in politics or sport. Shane we are all trying to do you proud.  Big Man!
