Donegal have made a request to the Ulster Council to have the start date of the provincial club championship put back.

The Donegal champions are due to face their Fermanagh counterparts on November 2nd, but with the Tir Chonaill men in the All-Ireland SFC final in three weeks time, they are under pressure to conclude their own county championship before the start of the Ulster campaign.

The Donegal County Board have asked the Ulster Council to defer the start of the club championship by one week and initial reports suggest that the provincial body will be in agreement.

Ulster Council PRO John Connolly told the Donegal Democrat: "We will be discussing again at our next meeting and being honest about given that Donegal are both in the senior and minor final, I believe the council will look favourably on Donegal's request."
