Barring a replayed All-Ireland final or Kerry's James O'Donoghue helping himself to 16-points against Donegal, Mayo's Cillian O'Connor looks nailed on to end up as the top scoring footballer of championship 2014.

The Mayo man led the way in 2013 and will likely repeat that achievement this season as well.

With 5-36 (8.5 average per game) from six matches he is well clear of O'Donoghue's 4-24 (9.0 avg) from four ties.

O'Donoghue is the top scorer from play with 2-20 (6.5 avg) excluding placed balls.

Overall Fermanagh's Sean Quigley has the highest average score per game so far with 11.5.

O'Connor has five goals to his name, with O'Donoghue, Fermanagh's Quigley and Meath's Michael Newman all with four majors a piece.

The highest individual game tally so far belongs to Quigley (2-8 v Laois).
