Longford have suffered back-to-back relegations after their late comeback failed to catch Wexford.

In the do-or-die clash at Wexford Park, the home side looked to be coasting to victory when Ben Brosnan's 50-metre free gave them a 1-15 to 0-10 lead. But the concession of two goals in the closing stages left them hanging on for victory.

Longford will join fellow midlanders Offaly in the basement division next year, who were already relegated before today's games. Emmett McDonnell's charges picked up their first point after drawing 2-13 to 3-10 with Fermanagh in Brewster Park, but it would have been two had Barry Owens not scored a last-gasp equalising goal for the Ernesiders.

In the day's other game, already-promoted Roscommon warmed up for the Division 3 final against Cavan with a 0-12 to 1-6 win over Sligo at Hyde Park.
