Glennon Brothers Pearse Park, Longford

In one of their biggest defeats for years the visiting Fermanagh side succumbed a Longford rout with a devastating score by the latter of 6 goals 13 points (31 points) to 1 goal 10 points (13 points) for a depleted Erneside, missing Declan McGarry, Danny and Matt Teague. Fermanagh actually in the matches opening minutes drew level with Longford when they Ernesider's mid-fielder and captain John Duffy matched they midlanders point by their right corner forward Joe O'Brien.

There was a further swopping of points, when John Duffy replied to previous point scored by opponent Kevin Connelly. Joe O'Brien and Ciaran Finucune put their side back in front with their team's third and fourth points from play. With those morale boosting points as lunch pad Longford's

Kevin Connelly blasted home the first of six goals for the now gung ho midland side. The match was now on as contest, at least for the midland hosts, who now added A further four points for the midlanders from firstly they latter player, right half forward Eoin Donnellan registered his sides fifth point. To complete the triplicate of scorers the very inform Joe O'Brien added his sides sixth point from play.

Though this game was still inside its' opening quarter, this match's scoring had distinct Longford flavour, with the scoreboard now declaring Longford 1 goal 6 points to a modest 2 points for the modestly scoring Ernesider's. All was not lost for the Fermanagh replied with third and fourth points from play and free by Sean Corrigan and John Duffy. Now as the opening half was heading for its' half time Longford massively upped its scoring quantity and quality, when firstly Joe O'Brien banged home his side's second goal from play.

Then they latter team mates Eoin Donnellan, Declan Tanner and Eoin Donnellan put they Longford lads went further in front with their seventh, eighth and ninth points from play. However they still defiant Fermanagh side struck back with their solitary goal from full forward Shea Curran. As the this game's opening half was heading to a close, it was the turn of the Ernesider's defiant midfielder Barry Smyth to attempt to regain his side's foothold in this match, when pucked his sole score and his team's fourth point from play. Moments later they latter was joined in this mini Fermanagh scoring blitz by left half back Colm Rice, clipped over his side's fifth point from play. However with this game's first half almost up, it was the more buoyant Longford lads Joe O'Brien and Eoin Donnellan now thirty three minutes later he clipped over Longford's tenth and eleventh scores of the opening half. As the matches' referee blew for half time there was many in the Fermanagh supporter's seats that were thinking that it would take a big miracle to turn this game around in favour of the Ernesider's. Miracles of any sort are in short supply anywhere at this point. A very interesting final half was now on offer, especially for the Fermanagh side.

Second half
Will Fermanagh Awaken?
An obvious question was asked, Will Fermanagh Awaken? The answer to that rhetorical question was fast coming, when the seamless scorer of the opening half Eoin Donnellan popped over his side's twelfth point from play. However it was the same player who now firmly answered the previous question, when he blasted home his side's fourth goal from play. The still not dispirited Fermanagh set seriously about to "pull this game out of the fire".

The Ernesider's Sean Corrigan and John Duffy quickly responded with points apiece. However they midlanders dramatically responded with their fourth and fifth goals by Eoin Donnellan and Kevin Connelly, As this match was now approaching the end of its' third quarter Fermanagh meekly replied with a point from Shea Curran. A quick look at the park score board would quickly tell that the score was now Longford with 5 goals 12 points to a weakened Fermanagh with a modest 1 goal 8 points. An uphill battle for the Ernesider's was on order. But alas it all their attacker's could offer was modest two points from Sean Corrigan and Shea Curran. Whilst the gung ho Longford side went on to add a further one goal and a point from Kevin Connelly.
