Ulster MHC: Down romp home
June 15, 2009
Down cruised into the semi-finals of the Ulster MHC following an emphatic 3-14 to 0-2 win over Fermanagh at Casement Park.
The gulf in class was apparent from an early stage with the Ardsmen racing into a 1-7 to 0-1 interval lead, despite hitting seven wides. Corner forward Daniel Toner accounted for the goal in the ninth minute.
Shay Curran scored Fermanagh's only first half point from a free, and they had to wait until the 57th minute for their next score, which was another Curran free.
By that stage, Down were home and dry with big full forward Neal Torney finding the net in the 41st and 50th minutes.
