Ward expects tough clash
October 03, 2008
Derrygonnelly manager Francis Ward is in no doubt that senior football championship final opponents St Patrick's will be a tough nut to crack in Sunday's decider.
St Patrick's have certainly come through the tougher route and many neutrals will feel that they deserve to win their first county title this weekend.
However, Ward doesn't go for sentiment and is determined to guide his charges to their fourth title, although he expects a tight game at Brewster Park.
"St Patricks have been going very well throughout the championship. They did look a bit nervous in the first half of their game with Lisnaskea," said Ward.
"If Derrygonnelly weren't in the final I guess I would like the idea of a St Patricks first time success. But sentiment doesn't come into the equation as far as we are concerned."
