Kernan delighted with response

Joe Kernan
Ulster manager Joe Kernan has admitted that he is pleased with the response from the players called in for trials to pick a squad for the Inter-provincial competition. The much maligned series of games has suffered in recent years, but Kernan was keen to stress that the interest is coming back, particularly after the response he received from the players called up. "Out of the 44 players I contacted only two were unable to come along to the trials, which is very encouraging. It may have gone into decline over the years but I think interest is beginning to come back again," said Kernan. "The players enjoy it and treat it with respect. Ulster has a proud tradition and always take it seriously."
