O'Rourke linked to Erne County role

July 31, 2019

Malachy O'Rourke may consider a return to his native county.

The rumour mill has certainly reached top gear in Fermanagh as to who will be their next manager?

The county was somewhat taken by surprise following the news this week that Rory Gallagher was stepping down after two years in charge.

Gallagher himself has suggested that some of his backroom team would be capable of making the step up, but yet again Malachy O’Rourke’s name has been linked to the role.

O’Rourke has already been linked to the Derry job, but he has ruled himself out of the running for that but the Derrylin may be swayed by a return to his native county.

Having managed Fermanagh from 2007 to 2010, he went on to spent seven seasons with Monaghan before stepping down this year.

Other names linked to the role are Dom Corrigan who also managed the county in the past, while Kieran Donnelly has had great success at club and colleges level.

Another name being mentioned is former Tyrone footballer Ryan McMenamin who was part of the Fermanagh backroom team for the past two years.
