Suspensions and injuries hit Armagh hard

Armagh has a number of injury headaches to contend with ahead of Saturday’s crucial Allianz FL Division 2 clash with Ulster rivals Fermanagh.

The Orchard County will definitely be without midfielder Stephen Sheridan who was hit with a two-match ban for a stamp on Donegal’s Eoghan Ban Gallagher in round 5.

As things stand, experienced defender James Morgan is also due to be sidelined by suspension after being red carded in that defeat but that is currently the subject of an appeal.

On top of the two suspensions, Aidan Forker, Mark Shields, Niall Grimley and Brendan Donaghy are all struggling with injuries and are rated doubtful for the Crossmaglen fixture.

“Niall had to come off against Donegal with an ankle injury and we lost Aidan Forker and Brendan Donaghy before that with hamstring strains,” assistant manager Jim McCorry told the Irish News.

“They have been unable to do full training with us for the last week but the physios have been working very hard with all of them but as of our last training session all of them remain extremely doubtful.”
