Lisbellaw mark 50th anniversary

November 28, 2018

A Gala dinner this weekend will be the last in a long list of events that have been held to mark the 50th anniversary of the Lisbellaw hurling club.

Against all adversaries, the club has made it to its Golden Jubilee, picking up some precious memories along the way including Ulster junior and intermediate titles in 2008 and 2012 respectively.

Club chairman Benny McManus told the Fermanagh Herald that this weekend was the culmination of lots of hard work carried out by the committee over the past couple of years.

“It’s going to be a great occasion and we’re all looking forward to reliving those big days, like the Ulster junior title in 2008 and the intermediate title in 2012,” said McManus.

“The other thing is that it is very much about refocusing the whole club. We need to get inventive, maybe get more into the schools, and the event is a good chance to show the club in a good light.

“We also hope that it’s a chance to get some of our past players involved again because we need their children and their grandchildren to be playing for us when the time comes.”
